Description
We are currently looking for a Full Time HIM Outpatient Coder to join our HIM Outpatient Coding Team team located at the Tishomingo Health Clinic.
Summary:
Translates clinical data into universal code sets, which determines reimbursement paid to a hospital from Medicare, Medicaid and Private Insurance companies as well as provides statistical data.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews, analyzes and interprets medical information documented via paper record and/or electronic health record, to accurately assign ICD-10CM, CPT-4, and HCPC, codes using the national coding guidelines
- Accurately codes and sequences medical record information on all accounts with an error rate not to exceed 5%
- Accurately abstracts medical record information on all accounts with an error rate not to exceed 5%
- Codes to achieve maximum reimbursement while maintaining compliance with coding guidelines, rules, and regulations
- Assists the medical staff with any questions or issues regarding coding or DRG assignment and approaches the medical staff for information as necessary
- Assists the medical staff and serves as a resource to answer questions regarding coding and/or superbill processes with courtesy and tact
- Escalates problematic issues to the next level of management for guidance in resolution of issues
- Maintains accurate account of daily activities and turns in calendar to the Supervisor IP Coding monthly
- Provides first class customer service - courteous and helpful to all internal and external customer types
- Answers questions in a courteous and professional manner
- Partners with internal and external services as needed to ensure appropriate referral is made
