We are currently looking for a Full Time IT Database Administrator to join our IT Enterprise Applications Database Administration Team team located at the Abbott Miller Bldg working .
Summary :
The Database Administrator's role is to monitor, maintain, and performance tune production and non-production databases while ensuring high levels of data availability. This individual is also responsible for implementing database policies and procedures to ensure the integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.
Responsibilities :
- Assess and develop long-term strategic goals for production databases in conjunction with data owners and department managers
- Utilize scripting language such as PowerShell automate maintenance tasks
- Utilize backup utility system and Native SQL Server to monitor Database backups
- Design and implement redundant systems, policies, and procedures for disaster recovery and data archiving to ensure effective protection and integrity of data assets
- Respond to and resolve database access and performance issues
- Monitor database system details within the database, including stored procedures and execution time, and implement efficiency improvements
- Measure performance against performance metrics and Service Level Agreements
- Monitor, optimize, and allocate physical data storage for database systems
- Plan and coordinate data migrations between systems
- Participates in the change control process for all planned or unplanned applications and technical activities
- Perform database transaction and security audits

- Monitor ETL and database maintenance tasks
- Develop routines for end users to facilitate best practices database use
- Rotate on-call duties with the other Database Administrators
- Works closely with the Business Insights and Solutions Data Warehousing team
- Identify, document and ensure the resolution of data quality issues, such as uniqueness, integrity, accuracy, consistency, and completeness, in a cost-effective and timely manner
- Work collaboratively with cross functional teams to identify causes of poor data quality, implement solutions, document, and communicate findings to all relevant stakeholders
- Work with Infrastructure and Operations to monitor, optimize, and allocate physical data storage for database systems
- Work with application development staff to coordinate the creation and management of data queries
- Participate in multidiscipline development teams to create ad-hoc and full life-cycle reports for applications created by the Application Development
