Definition
The Community Outreach Coordinator serves as a vital connection between First 5 Nevada and The Children's Cabinet's programs and the marketing team, ensuring that outreach, communications, and marketing efforts are aligned to effectively engage families, partners, and community members. This role is responsible for developing programmatic newsletters, managing community outreach events, and assisting with marketing initiatives that promote First 5 Nevada's services and resources, as well as Cabinet programs. First 5 Nevada (F5N) is a statewide initiative focused on connecting families with young children to the programs, services, and resources that they need and to improve knowledge, awareness, and support for building a comprehensive, coordinated early childhood system in Nevada.

Duties
- Act as a liaison between First 5 Nevada and the marketing team, ensuring that program needs and updates are effectively communicated, and brand guidelines are followed.
- Manage, coordinate, and oversee contracted outreach & marketing vendors including monthly meetings with contractors to provide input on and oversight of assigned campaigns.
- Update and maintain the First 5 Nevada website ensuring content is current, accessible, and engaging.
- Monitor statewide requests for assistance through First 5 Nevada.
- Coordinate with the Early Childhood Systems Consultant to monitor applications received for programs seeking to be a First 5 Nevada resource and help facilitate the First 5 Nevada Program Inclusion Advisory Committee and support the Committee in making a determination on applications.
- Coordinate with the Marketing team to create social media and digital content that promote First 5 Nevada.
- Identify, coordinate, and track all Family & Community Outreach activities of The Children's Cabinet, ensuring representation for both The Children's Cabinet and First 5 Nevada at key events.
- Plan, organize, and execute community outreach events, including securing venues, coordinating logistics, and promoting participation.
- Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, ensuring consistent engagement and collaboration, including providing support in the utilization of First 5 Nevada.
- Provide on-site support at events, including staffing booths, engaging with attendees, and representing First 5 Nevada and The Children's Cabinet.
- Write and edit newsletters, announcements, and feature articles, including interviews with clients, volunteers, partners, and staff to highlight program impact.
- Coordinate interviews and related media opportunities and serve as primary spokesperson for First 5 Nevada.
- Prepare monthly reports and perform data analysis on utilization, trends and other key performance analytics and use information to inform improvements and identify programmatic and systemic needs.
- Review, approve, and submit monthly invoices.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Statewide and local community resources and agencies that serve families across the early childhood system
- Strong understanding of digital marketing, content creation, and social media management.
- Proficiency with social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube) and scheduling tools.
- Familiarity with graphic design principles and basic design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva).
- Strong writing, editing, and storytelling abilities.
- Ability to manage website content, communications, and analytics (e.g., WordPress, Constant Contact, or similar platforms)
- Computer programs including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, data base programs, etc., and the desire to learn new programs
Ability to:
- Develop high-quality, engaging content that aligns with The Children's Cabinet's mission and resonates with diverse audiences.
- Deliver exceptional customer service in a fast-paced and often sensitive environment
- Work with various community agency partners to improve access to services
- Identify service gaps and propose improvement strategies
- Manage large volumes of information, multitask and prioritize effectively in a busy office environment
- Ability to work evenings and weekends. Some travel required; office visits and/or training.
Special Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in marketing and communications, public relations or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Three years of experience in marketing and communications, public relations, or a related field
- Be able to pass a background check.
- Bilingual a plus.
- Must have a reliable vehicle to get to and from work, events, and errands.
- Must possess a valid Nevada Driver's license, proof of insurance for utilizing a personal vehicle for company business, and a clean driving record.
- Must be capable of fulfilling all the physical aspects of the job including but not limited to: being able to lift and carry 50 lbs.; able to walk up and down stairs, repetitive keystroking (initiating and responding to e-mails; typing copy, etc.)
