POSITION SUMMARY: The Human Resources Assistant will assist with various administrative tasks to support the Human Resource Department. Functions including maintaining employee records, assisting with recruitment, onboarding new hires, managing employee benefits, coordinating training schedules, and ensuring compliance with company policies and employment laws. Due to the nature of the role, this individual must maintain appropriate personal boundaries. This individual should also be aware of and sensitive to the cultural diversity of the client population. Expected to perform other duties as assigned. The Human Resource Assistant will report to the Director of Human Resources. |

Accountable and responsible for the following results: - Assists with the gathering and maintaining of accurate and complete employee records in the HR database.
- Assists with the management of all agency benefit programs (e.g., Open Enrollment, Benefit Invoicing, CT FMLA, Long-Term and Short-Term Disability, etc.).
- Assists with the new employee onboarding process, including document completion, benefits enrollment, and introductions to the company.
- Assists with the tracking, scheduling, and coordinating of agency-wide training.
- Provides recruitment support, as needed, including the collection, processing, and tracking of pre-employment background checks.
- Ensures adherence to all company polices, employment laws and regulations.
- Assists with compiling data and information on specific employee data for reports and audits.
- Administers employee photo ID badges.
- Possesses and maintains technological fluency.
- Remains current with all certifications and training requirements.
- Maintains all required agency mandatory trainings.
- Maintains appropriate personal boundaries with young people, clients and families served at The Children's Center of Hamden. Adheres to The Children’s Center of Hamden’s Boundary Code of Ethics.
- Is aware of the Policy and Procedure Manuals and can access information as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS | - Associate degree preferred.
- Experience working in the human resources and the human service field, preferably a congregate care setting.
- Knowledge of workers’ compensation, FMLA, and OSHA.
- Experience with scheduling, interviewing, workforce management and training is preferred.
- The Human Resources Coordinator must be able to deal effectively with various individuals and organizations, possess excellent organizational skills, protect confidential information and manage various situations that may arise.
- The employee also needs a working knowledge of Excel, the ability to multi-task assignments, very accurate typing skills, good grammar usage, as well as excellent communication skills.

LICENSURE / CERTIFICATIONS | - Human Resources Certification preferred.
