Job Overview
The accounting clerk is responsible for maintaining the clinic billing of all patients, including Medi-cal and third-party billing; and maintaining communication with all insurance carriers including follow-up, denials, and appeals. Living Wage Social Services agency. Must be prepared to pass the DOJ background check and DMV check.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Included but not limited to):
- Calls insurance companies to verify insurance eligibility coverage.
- Works with insurance denials and follows up on claims status.
- Assists patients with problems concerning their accounts.
- Reviews & Analyzes the A/R Aging Report on a regular basis.
- Monthly Financial Reconciliation
- Maintains financial logs in QuickBooks
Education and/or Experience
- High school or equivalent required. Additional education preferred
- One (1) year of billing experience in a medical setting minimum.
- Have the ability to prioritize, organize, troubleshoot and problem-solve.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge in Insurance verification & eligibility.
- Must have reliable transportation
- Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); Working knowledge of relevant software (e.g., QuickBooks) will be appreciated
