Overview
The role of the Family Support Provider (FSP) in the Family Development and Support Services (FDSS) department involves providing individual parenting and family education and support to families with young children and expectant families living in challenging circumstances.
Responsibilities
- Meet with expectant parents and parents with infants and young children in homeless shelters, other residential facilities, and in families’ homes.
- Provide strength-based, family-focused, comprehensive home visiting services.
- Implement an evidence-based parenting curriculum.
- Offer knowledgeable support about community services and challenges faced by families in the program.
- Work individually while contributing to a supportive and positive team environment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, or a related field (strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with delivering an evidence-based program (helpful).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with families experiencing homelessness, addiction, mental illness, and other challenges.
- Experience working with families with young children.
Supervisory Responsibility
- None.
Work Environment
- Office-based with significant time spent in the community meeting with families.
Expected Hours of Work
- Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Travel
- In-state travel using own car is required.
