Overview : The Volunteer Engagement Coordinator supports the Volunteer and Community Engagement programs at The Children’s Inn by assisting the Senior Volunteer Engagement Manager in managing volunteers, outreach events, and corporate groups.

Job Responsibilities Include :

Community Engagement :

  • Assist with planning and day-of support for on-site and off-site community engagement events (sports teams, partnerships, MCPD, speaking engagements, field trips). Assist with phone and e-mail inquiries and coordination regarding the Thoughtful Treasures Program
  • Provide direct support for Corporate Dinner Groups

Work with Health & Well-Being Coordinator to respond to dinner groups, provide guidelines, and manage the dinner calendar.

  • Secure dinner volunteers, send weekly and monthly schedules, greet / tour Corporate Dinner group upon arrival, oversee dinner set up and ensure successful completion of the dinner service.
  • Engage with corporate partners, including post-event follow-ups, thank-you communications, collecting volunteer contact information, and completing in-kind donation forms.
  • Assist Corporate Partnerships & Events Manager with partnership development, relationship building, and stewardship of dinner volunteers
  • Encourage additional ways to engage with The Inn

  • Maintain an updated database of dinner service engagement
  • Collect feedback from partners and participants to improve future engagement initiatives.

    Volunteer Services :

  • Participate in the recruitment of volunteers, helping to host community events and other outreach activities.
  • Provide on-boarding for new volunteers.
  • Work with staff to develop and manage volunteer opportunities.
  • Complete administrative duties including developing the volunteer schedule / coverage, responding to e-mails and inquiries about volunteering, assisting in NIH badge renewal process.
  • Plan activities with the Sr Volunteer Engagement Manager for the Volunteer Advisory Committee, and Teen Ambassador Program.
  • Work with Sr Volunteer Engagement Manager to develop and implement best practices in volunteer management to continually enhance the program.
  • Assist with recognition program for volunteer service anniversaries, birthdays, and volunteer appreciation activities.
  • Assist in the regular assessing of volunteer satisfaction and overall experience.
  • Manage in-kind donations and Amazon wish list.
  • Seasonal Projects :

  • Assist with Holiday programs and initiatives from November-early January which include :
  • Decorating The Inn, wrapping gifts

  • Helping to stock the Gingerbread gift shop
  • Assisting in maintaining the wish list and holiday workplan
  • Sorting, processing and distributing incoming holiday donations
  • Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 1 year work experience with volunteers and / or in community engagement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Expertise in software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong organization skills to prioritize multiple tasks of high priority in a professional, efficient and confidential manner.
  • Must be able to project the professional,caring image of The Children’s Inn with poise and tact
  • Must be comfortable with public speaking and event planning
  • Schedule :

    Official schedule is 40-hours per week. Core hours will be Monday-Friday 10 : 30 - 6 : 30pm. However, the coordinator must be flexible with weekly schedule based on the needs of the volunteers, events, and programs scheduled. This position primarily requires on-site office hours but offers flexibility for remote work on administrative days. Monthly and quarterly attendance is required for staff meetings.

    Compensation and Benefits :

    Hiring Salary Range : $25.48 - $27.88

    The Children’s Inn offers a collegial work environment with exciting opportunities for professional growth, and generous benefits, including 5 days vacation leave during years 0-5 and 26 days for years 6 or more, 13 days per year of sick and safe leave, 2 days of mental health leave each July 1st(prorated during first year of employment), 2 days of personal leave each year (prorated during first year of employment), holiday leave, 6 weeks (paid) parental leave (after 1 year of work) and 4 days of employee volunteer leave per fiscal year. Day 1 benefits include health, dental, and vision benefits. The Children’s Inn offers a 401(k) plan with up to 10% employer contribution and match available. Hybrid telework arrangements available based on the role and needs of the organization.
