The Community Initiatives Intern will assist with community engagement activities to support the museum in being a trusted and reliable partner to the community and Mid-North Neighborhoods that surround the museum. Additionally, the intern will provide aid in reducing barriers that limit access to dependable and credible resources that support a good quality of life for community members and Mid-North residents by fulfilling the following responsibilities:

Additionally, the intern will provide aid in reducing barriers that limit access to dependable and credible resources that support a good quality of life for community members and Mid-North residents by fulfilling the following responsibilities:
Duties And Responsibilities
- Help with the promotional efforts to drive enrollment and participation in community programs
- Propose ideas to enhance the quality of program offerings
- Assist with market and/or vendor research for programming and project needs
- Support the coordination efforts for community program and or event operations
- Assist with some of the pre-and post-event evaluations to help develop reports on outcomes
- Should be able to effectively engage with established relationships, building trust and fostering collaboration to support diverse community needs
- Complete other ad hoc community outreach tasks as determined as appropriate
Internship Requirements
- Have completed at least one year of college.
- Have an academic background in nonprofit management, event management, marketing/communications, social work, education, family studies, museum studies, child development, psychology, sociology, or a related field.
- Have good oral and written communication skills.
- Have excellent organizational and research skills.
- Have web researching skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Exhibit professional behavior and responsible work ethic
- Have excellent customer service skills
- Have the ability to multi-task
- Be available on Saturdays and some evenings to help facilitate meetings, programs, and events.
- Be available to work a minimum of 12 hours per week.
