The StarPoint Summer Camp Operations Intern will work closely with the Family Programs Manager to coordinate the logistics of StarPoint Summer Camp. They will design, create, and distribute weekly communications for camper families including camp reminders and newsletters. They will serve as the camp photographer and lead the team of cabin interns to document camp as well as develop the end-of-camp celebration slide show. They will be responsible for coordinating day-of logistics for camp guests, presenters, and speakers, and they will step into the classrooms as needed to support the teachers and campers.

Internship Duties
- Design and distribute weekly communications for camper families including camp reminders and newsletters.
- Serve as the point of contact and coordinate day-of logistics for camp contractors and presenters.
- Assist with logistics of adding collections objects in each cabin each week.
- Take photos throughout camp and organize photos that could be used for marketing, presentations, and grant proposals.
- Assist in the preparations and logistics for StarPoint Summer Camp and the Kids Science Camp that will take place the week after StarPoint Summer Camp.
- Contribute to an intern manual that will be referenced by future StarPoint Summer Camp Operations Interns.
- Observe other departments and museum positions to learn more about the museum’s operations.
- Be familiar with the daily camp tasks to help in cabins as needed.
- Serve as a chaperone for StarPoint field trips and exhibit visits.
- Assist with other department projects and/or events as needed.
- Helps to monitor the environment for hazards or sanitary concerns to ensure a safe and healthy learning experience. Assists in correcting problems by following proper procedures, and/or removing StarPoint youth from hazards until it can be resolved.
- Follows all museum health and safety guidelines and maintains proper cleaning protocol
- Be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree
- Have experience working with elementary-age children
- Preference will be given to juniors, seniors, or graduating seniors entering the workforce
- Have an academic background or experience in an education, classroom, or museum setting
- Have strong oral and written communication skills
- Possess experience in providing exceptional customer service
- Demonstrate excellent organizational and research skills
- Have the ability to multi-task
- Exhibit professional behavior and responsible work ethic
- Have web researching skills and a basic knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Canva, and PowerPoint
- Preference will be given to candidates with photography experience
- Must be available full-time during the entire internship (May 9th – August 1st)
- Must be available for some nights and weekends
