What are the responsibilities and job description for the Consultant in Paediatric Neurodisability - Fixed Term Contract position at The Children's Trust?
An exciting opportunity
has arisen for a Consultant in Paediatric Neurodisability to join our Medical Team and to make a lasting difference to children with brain injury and neurodisability. You will gain unique experience in Paediatric Neurorehabilitation and management of Neurodisability. Previous experience in Paediatric Neurodisability although desirable is not essential as long as the candidate is willing to undertake further training in these niche subspecialties.
The Children’s Trust is the UK’s leading charity for children with acquired brain injury, providing expert rehabilitation, education, therapy and care at our national specialist centre in Tadworth, and to children and their families across the UK, via our Brain Injury Community Service. Providing residential accommodation for children with highly complex neuro-disability, we are the largest centre commissioned by NHS England for Category A neurorehabilitation.
You will have the opportunity to develop and implement your expertise in an environment that is focused on the highest clinical and quality standards and considered overall outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. You will work in a 24-acre site which is unusual in its beautiful historic nature, as it is unique in its state-of-the-art facilities including robotic technology and virtual reality.

Role Requirements
You will be a key member of the medical team which consists of Medical Director, Consultants in Paediatric Neurodisability, Senior Specialty Doctors in Paediatric Neurodisability (ST7-8 equivalent), Specialty Doctors (ST1-3 equivalent), Medical Business Manager, Medical Secretaries and Medical Admin. You will report to the Medical Director. Your role will be to support The Children’s Trust to be a leading centre for the care of children and young people with Brain Injuries and Complex Neurodisability.
Working hours are 9am - 5pm Monday to Friday, with no obligatory Out of Hours cover.
To succeed in this high profile and diverse role, you must demonstrate :
- Full professional GMC registration and licence to practice and an MBBS or equivalent.
- CCT in Paediatric Neurodisability, Community Paediatrics or General Paediatrics or be within 6 months of achieving this at the time of interview.
- MRCPCH or equivalent.
- You will be a natural and enthusiastic leader, able to support a high performing team.
- Strong clinical skills, combined with excellent child and family focussed interpersonal skills.
- A caring, supportive and can-do approach.
