First Alliance Church of Silver Spring, MD is looking for someone to fill a full-time position to serve a multi-cultural community … helping different people come together and be “better together” in the name of Jesus Christ - anticipating the picture painted for us in Revelation 7:9.
Purpose: To join a team of leaders, facilitating the mission of First Alliance Church: changing our world by helping people know God, love life, and serve others.
Calling: To obey God’s leading to serve a multi-cultural community … helping different people come together and be “better together” in the name of Jesus Christ.
Setting: First Alliance is a multi-racial and multi-cultural community church. Family Ministries Responsibilities
- Lead/coordinate* our ministries to children and youth.
- Recruit, train and encourage volunteers to serve on ministry teams.
- Develop and implement support opportunities for parents.
- Dovetail our internal ministries to families with outreach opportunities into the community.
Community Outreach Responsibilities
- Lead/coordinate* our community outreach ministries including things like monthly food distributions, an inhouse food pantry and practical, need based classes (i.e., Financial Fitness, English, etc.)
- Implement a “follow-up” ministry for people that respond to our community outreach and for people that come to one of our church services.
- Note: “lead/coordinate” implies ultimate responsibility, but also the ability to work with and delegate to others, developing leaders along the way.
Additional Expectations and Compensation
- Carry out other duties as assigned - as a part of a team-based approach to a holistic ministry.
- Report directly to the senior pastor and participate regularly at staff meetings.
- Participate in annual reviews and in an initial 3-month review.
- Attend events with local Alliance pastors as well as the Mid-Atlantic District.
- Compensation is commensurate with experience and includes benefits.
