What are the responsibilities and job description for the MTC Media Technician position at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
This position is central to the missionaries' role to 'Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them receive the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end.' Media Technician is an entry to intermediate support individual contributor responsible for basic MTC Media needs including setting up and running audio/visual equipment for meetings, firesides, devotionals, conferences, etc.
- Sets up audio/visual equipment for large group meetings, firesides, devotionals, video conferences, and any other miscellaneous meetings.
- Operates cameras, laptop computers, projectors and audio equipment
- Assists in the troubleshooting of audio/visual equipment
- Understands and troubleshoots the complex technical issues such as large system design, signal flow, and equipment maintenance.
- Tests and repairs broken equipment
- Installs hardware and equipment, including running cables, installing wall-mount flat panels
- Sets up the more complex meetings that are held in the gym.
- Assists other team members and attends meetings
- Keeps technical facilities clean and organized
- Assists in supervising other media technicians.
- Pass Media Technician Certification Test (administered by the MTC Media Department)
- Solid understanding of audio/visual concepts
- Ability to provide a positive customer experience
- Basic computer skills, as well as familiarity with Office Suite, Google search, Drop Box, etc.
- Willing to be team player
- Ability to handle high-stress situations
- Ability to independently lift and position objects weighing as much as 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, walk, kneel, squat, stoop, push, pull, twist, bend, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods of time.
- To successfully perform the essential functions of the job, there may be physical requirements which need to be met such as sitting for long periods of time and using monitors/equipment.
Preferred :
- Experience with basic A/V equipment, audio mixer, cameras, etc.
- Experience with hand-tools and power-tools
- Willingness to get into tight spaces, during installations
