What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sacred Materials Coordinator position at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints?
Based at Church Headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Sacred Materials Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and supporting sacred materials translation and audio production across multiple languages. This may include arranging schedules, making assignments, facilitating hand-offs, providing production-level follow-up and reporting, coordinating travel, accounting for project-related expenses, and ensuring that translation and production processes are consistent and adhered to.
This is a hybrid position in Salt Lake City, Utah, that requires regular in-office days. Under the direction of the Global Sacred Materials Coordination Team Lead, this HQ role closely collaborates with international SM coordinators, providing mentorship and support.
- Support the work of linguists and producers as they oversee the translation and audio production of sacred materials.
- Manage the information and assignments of translators and voice talents in the Church’s translation and production management systems, providing follow-up and reporting on the progress of assignments.
- Facilitate hand-offs and follow-up on work assignments and other interactions with translation and audio production team members.
- Help supervisors, producers, translators, and voice talent prepare for project travel by collecting information and coordinating travel needs with appropriate Church entities worldwide.
- Account for project expenses, including invoices, receipts, reimbursements, etc.
- Interface with HQ partner divisions to help coordinate global projects.
- Ensure that coordination and support processes are properly and accurately documented, streamlined, and consistent across projects.
- Bachelor's degree (preferably in linguistics, translation, communications, or a related field) with at least 8 years of related experience.
- 3 years of experience in project management or a related field.
- Mastery of spoken and written English and at least one other language, preferably Spanish.
- Excellent cross-cultural communication skills.
- Proven skills in project management, time management, interpersonal communication, coaching, problem-solving, and working under pressure.
- Ability and willingness to regularly work outside of business hours to support global projects.
- Ability to interact with external and internal resources in a way that ensures projects are completed on time and according to specifications.
- Ability to expertly navigate translation and production business management tools.
- Ability to provide advanced technical support to translation and business management system users.
- Intermediate to high proficiency in using the most up-to-date technological tools, including automation.
- Knowledge of Church doctrine, policies, and ecclesiastical organization.
