What are the responsibilities and job description for the Management Associate (Underwriting) position at The Cigna Group?
The role will support the underwriting team in assessing and managing risks for corporate and SME clients. You will evaluate risk profiles, prepare policy documentation, collaborate with Sales and Actuarial teams to ensure accurate and efficient underwriting processes. You will gain hands-on experience in risk assessment and management, regulatory compliance, and process optimization within the healthcare insurance space.
Critical Tasks and Expected Contributions/Results:
Manage the UW team mailbox, and allocation of quotes among underwriters
Assess the risk of Micro SME quotes
Prepare Table of Benefits for renewals and new business inceptions for corporate and SME
Perform legal check on new quote census.
Screen SME and corporate groups before allocation.
Generate reports from system and do the needful formatting
Liaise with sales team to manage expectations on quote TATs
Participate in problem solving activities to define problems, identify root causes, suggest solutions for continuous improvements of processes and procedures to work more efficiently and effectively
Utilize and adhere to internal guidelines and procedures to ensure that all assigned work is processed in timely manner and meet compliant standards
Support underwriters in other tasks, as needed

Underwriting function
Health Insurance regulations
Understanding of health insurance market and competitors’ landscape
Cigna products and benefits
Underwriting concepts: Premium, claims, Loss Ratio, IBNR, Outstanding, Trend etc.
UW Tools & Portals
Experience/Knowledge, Education and Other Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Finance, Mathematics, Business Administration or similar
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is a must
Knowledge of insurance industry and/or medical condition assessment will be viewed favourably
Fluency in English is essential
