Summary

About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Concessionaire (Temp/Seasonal) in the Community and Regional Entertainment Facilities department. This department supports the operation of the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville, a premier entertainment venue in the region, providing top-notch service to both patrons and performers.
What you’ll be doing:
- Prepare and serve food and beverages, including alcoholic drinks, to event patrons.
- Ensure proper identification of patrons purchasing alcohol, adhering to North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement regulations.
- Maintain a sanitized and safe work environment, complying with NC Health Department standards.
- Operate Point-of-Sale terminals for cash and credit card sales, ensuring accurate financial reconciliation.
- Maintain inventory levels of supplies, equipment, food, and beverages.
- Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and assisting patrons.
- Collaborate with team members to clean and organize the concession area post-event.
- Assist Stand Manager, Bar Manager, or Management with other related duties as needed.

- Salary: $15.00 Hourly tips
About you:
We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; prior bartending or food-service experience preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years of age to comply with North Carolina regulations for serving distilled spirits.
- Knowledge of safe food and beverage handling practices.
- Ability to maintain cleanliness standards and meet sanitation procedures.
- Capacity for moderate physical labor and standing for extended periods.
- Proficiency in record-keeping and reconciling sales transactions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Completion of TIPS training program and adherence to alcohol sales regulations.
Other things to know:
- Work Schedule: Varies based on event schedules; must be available for evenings, weekends, and holidays. Flexibility is essential.
