Concessionaire (Temp/Seasonal)

About our opportunity:
The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Concessionaire (Temp/Seasonal) in the Community and Regional Entertainment Facilities department. This department supports the operation of the Harrah’s Cherokee Center Asheville, a premier entertainment venue in the region, providing top-notch service to both patrons and performers.

What you’ll be doing:

• Prepare and serve food and beverages, including alcoholic drinks, to event patrons.
• Ensure proper identification of patrons purchasing alcohol, adhering to North Carolina Alcohol Law Enforcement regulations.
• Maintain a sanitized and safe work environment, complying with NC Health Department standards.
• Operate Point-of-Sale terminals for cash and credit card sales, ensuring accurate financial reconciliation.
• Maintain inventory levels of supplies, equipment, food, and beverages.
• Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and assisting patrons.
• Collaborate with team members to clean and organize the concession area post-event.
• Assist Stand Manager, Bar Manager, or Management with other related duties as needed.

• Salary: $15.00 Hourly tips

About you:
We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:

• High School Diploma or equivalent; prior bartending or food-service experience preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years of age to comply with North Carolina regulations for serving distilled spirits.
• Knowledge of safe food and beverage handling practices.
• Ability to maintain cleanliness standards and meet sanitation procedures.
• Capacity for moderate physical labor and standing for extended periods.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and reconciling sales transactions.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Completion of TIPS training program and adherence to alcohol sales regulations.
