About our opportunity:

The City of Asheville is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Project Manager in the Water Resources department at either a level 1, level 2, or level 3 depending on candidate qualifications. This position would manage all aspects of water system capital improvement projects.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Managing the planning, design and construction of Water System Capital Improvement Projects, ensuring adherence to policies, regulations and best practices, support operations and asset maintenance.

  • General Customer Service and Department Support

About you:

  • What you Bring:

We know your time is valuable. Applicants who meet the following minimum requirements or have comparable experience and/or education will be considered:

Project Manager Level 1 - Will have up to 1 year of experience in project management or a related field and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Project / Construction Management from an accredited university; - or- 3 years of applicable project management experience and an Associates degree in Civil Engineering or Project / Construction management or Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Project Manager Level 2 - Will have 3 years of applicable experience in project management or a related field and a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Project / Construction Management from an accredited university; - or- 5 years of applicable project management experience and a Bachelor’s degree in related field.

Project Manager Level 3 - Will hold a Professional Engineers License in NC or have the ability to receive reciprocity in NC within 6 months of hire and- 5 years of applicable project management experience or related field.

All Levels must have possession of a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire. A Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate and an A Distribution Certificate is preferred

Typical Schedule is 5 days, Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

  • Minimum Hiring Annual Salary per position level:

Project Manager I: $58,823.30

Project Manager II: $62,352.70

Project Manager III: $66,093.86

Other tasks associated with the position may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

  • Sensory Requirements: Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate sounds and visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

  • Environmental Factors: Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
