The City of Cedar Park is seeking qualified applicants for Pump and Motor Technician II. The selected applicant will perform duties essential to operate and maintain the city’s utility operating systems, including preventive maintenance and repair of pumps and motor controls in the collection system, distribution system, and Park facilities.
The Position
JOB SUMMARY
Performs duties essential to operate and maintain the city’s utility operating systems, including preventive maintenance and repair of pumps and motor controls in the collection system, distribution system, and Park facilities.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Performs preventive maintenance on electric circuits and motor controls at treatment plants, lift stations, pumping stations, and Park facilities.
- Repairs electric circuits and motor controls at treatment plants, lift stations, pumping stations, and Park facilities.
- Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on pumps at treatment plants, lift stations, pumping stations, and Park facilities.
- Repairs and maintains electric circuits on city property.
- Ensures truck has adequate supplies.
- Maintains assigned truck in proper working condition and ensures all work areas are clean and organized.
- Trains and monitors the work of Pump and Motor Technician Is, as needed.
- Fills out required work orders.
- Performs rotating on-call duties.
Acceptable Experience, Training, Certifications and Licenses
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO PERFORM WORK:
- High School Diploma, or its equivalent, plus at least two (2) years of experience in pump and motor control repair and maintenance.
- Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Class II Wastewater Collection License and Class C Water Distribution License issued by the Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission.
- Valid Texas Driver's License, with acceptable driving record. Class B CDL or ability to obtain in six (6) months.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Skill/Ability to: read electrical schematics, repair and maintain pumps, motors, and electrical controls, operate various handheld tools, apply safety standards to prevent hazards, understand and follow instructions, establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, use standard office equipment including copiers, multi-line phone systems and computers for basic word processing and data entry as well as highly technical computer systems related to the work being performed including radios, variable frequency drives, programmable logic controllers, and control panels; deal effectively with the public in stressful situations; and tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
