Job Description:
Under the direction of the Director of Parks, the Deputy Parks Director- Facilities implements, maintains and upgrades the Cities Capital Maintenance Plan for facility planning, construction and modernization. This position manages and directs activities to secure and account for expenditures necessary to ensure City buildings are renovated and maintained in an efficient and expeditious manner.
Examples of Duties:
- Directs, prioritizes and coordinates the daily activities and functions of Facilities Maintenance staff.
- Works with executive level management in developing long range capital maintenance priorities.
- Employs troubleshooting expertise & knowledge of DDC systems to determine when a contractor is needed & what the scope of work should be.
- Uses Commercial & Industrial HVAC & MEP knowledge to troubleshoot & recommend repairs, upgrades & preventive maintenance on various chillers, cooling towers, boilers & other complex systems.
- Acts as a Fire & Life Safety Systems expert, with working knowledge of NFPA guidelines & experience working with local Fire Marshalls on property inspections & deficiency corrections.
- Hires and manages Fire & Life Safety contractors for compliance.
- Reviews capital project plans to ensure mechanical system design is compatible with city systems.
- Responds to inquiries from internal and external customers.
- Solicits, manages, and executes maintenance contracts.
- Reviews and approves pay requests for projects or consultants within area of responsibility.
- Reviews monthly budget reports from assigned divisions within the Parks Department.
- Attends meetings and provides expert advice and assistance to departments and divisions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in engineering, construction management, architecture or equivalent; and ten years of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and facilities maintenance experience.
- High level knowledge & experience with Metasys & other BAS/BMS systems in a multi-site environment.
- FEMA ICS Certificates through FEMA 800.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office software or similar software.
- Valid South Carolina Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with HVAC construction, commissioning and operations.
- SC General Contractor License or SC Mechanical Contractor License .
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
