Job Description:
In this role, you will coordinate the land development and construction review process.
Examples of Duties:
- Acts as the primary coordinator for site design and construction plan review, associated permitting, and inspection activities.
- Provides a high level of customer service to internal staff, architects, engineers, contractors, homeowners, and other customers.
- Ensures plans are compliant with with established zoning ordinances, building codes, and other City regulations.
- Manages team reviews of land development and construction projects submitted to the Permit Center.
- Enters plan review and permitting applications in land development and construction software, and ensures applications are reviewed in an efficient manner.
- Responds to requests for zoning, design review, board submittals, building code, and fire code information at in person and over the phone.
- Explains codes and permit process requirements to contractors and citizens
- Performs quality assurance checks of site and building plans at the time of their submittal for application, and assures that the applicant has provided the required documentation.
- Reviews plans for completeness and determines whether the plans can be accepted for review.
- Provides applicants with incomplete submissions with information to properly submit their plans and applications.
- Distributes residential and commercial plans to plan examiners for review, monitors for timely review, and communicates status updates with applicants.
- Calculates and communicates appropriate building permit fees.
- Maintains physical and electronic records systems.
- Produces applicant and project tracking reports to assist with workload management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Urban Planning, Architecture, Building Construction, Building Plan Review, Public Administration, or related field.
- Thorough knowledge of Microsoft Office or similar software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- One year of experience.
- Tyler EnerGov software.
Other Necessary Requirements:
- May require evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled. Other duties may be assigned.
- In the event of major storms or other emergency situations, this position may be subject to 24-hour shifts or any other emergency schedule that is necessary to meet the City’s needs.
