JOB SUMMARY
The Group Leader is responsible for ensuring their groups safety and enjoyment during activities, on-site, and on field trips. Responsibilities include monitoring group behavior, maintaining cleanliness, assisting with meals, and reporting incidents to supervisors. This possession possess attentiveness, organized, and committed to creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for all participants.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITY
- Supervise and actively engage with assigned groups to keep them involved and moving throughout the day.
- Conduct regular head counts and maintain accurate attendance during camp activities, field trips, and bus travel.
- Implement daily lesson plans and collaborate with staff to plan and coordinate camp events.
- Ensure participant safety by monitoring activities, enforcing camp rules, and supervising from various angles in different settings.
- Report and record incidents, such as accidents or rule violations, to supervisors and parents.
- Maintain cleanliness of group areas and proper use of camp facilities and equipment.
- Assist participants with meals and other needs, ensuring a positive experience.
- Communicate effectively with the Site Supervisor, Day Camp Director, and Assistant Director.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support camp operations.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Play and engage with the program participants.
- Create and improvise games and activities.
- Maintains accurate attendance of assigned group at all time at camp location, on fieldtrips, and during travel on all buses.
- Greet and interact with parents and guardians as necessary
- Carry out any other duties as assigned by Site Supervisor, Day Camp Director and Assistant Director.
- Participate in cleaning of program facilities.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- At least 2 years working with children, ages 5-12, in a structured setting such as another day camp, youth groups, scout leader, day care leader, etc.
- Knowledge of games and art activities.
- Ability to improvise or “switch up” if a current plan is not receptive.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must be an excellent problem solver and solve issues in a timely manner.
- Must be able to discipline appropriately and mediate situations.
- Help and encourage anyone who needs advice or a helping hand.
- Support others through teamwork, dedication and guidance in order to achieve the completion of all given tasks or activities.
- Must have complete knowledge, or proven ability to learn, the rules and regulations of the city program and Child Safety Policy.
- Must be friendly, active, and like to interact/play with children of all ages.
- Ability to develop, coordinate, and direct activities involved in a program.
- Have knowledge of developmental skills of children ages 5-12.
