JOB SUMMARY
Oversees all aspects of the department’s tennis programs, including development of programs and offerings, managing employees and schedules, customer relations and experiences. This position is tasked with ensuring the overall success and growth of the tennis and pickleball programming.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Teach tennis skills and techniques to individuals or groups in private lessons or group classes for youth through adult.
- Plan and organize tennis programs, camps, clinics, and events heavily throughout the summer.
- Develop lesson plans and training programs tailored to the needs and skill levels of participants.
- Provide feedback and guidance to help participants improve their tennis skills.
- Ensure the safety of participants during lessons and activities.
- Maintain and organize tennis equipment and facilities.
- Promote tennis programs and events to attract new participants.
- Assist in the recruitment and training of assistant instructors or volunteers.
- Provide excellent customer service and address any inquiries or concerns from members or guests.
- Provide weekly schedule for program instructors and collect their time sheets.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Engage with the participants and staff.
- Attend weekly staff meetings during summer season.
- Visit each site daily: solve problems in a timely manner if necessary.
- Assists at times during the “off season” for planning and partnership engagement
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven experience as a Tennis Instructor or Coach.
- Strong knowledge of tennis techniques, strategies, and rules.
- Certification from a recognized tennis association or organization (e.g., PTR, USPTA) is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work with individuals of all ages and skill levels.
- Enthusiastic and passionate about teaching tennis.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hiring).
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Must be an excellent problem solver and solve issues in a timely manner.
- Must be able to discipline appropriately and mediate situations.
- Help and encourage anyone who needs advice or a helping hand.
- Support others through teamwork, dedication and guidance in order to achieve excellence in a task or activity.
- Must have complete knowledge, or proven ability to learn, the rules and regulations of the city program including the Child Safety Policy.
- Ability to develop, coordinate, and direct varied activities involved in a community program.
- Have knowledge of developmental skills of children ages 6-12.
- Show the ability to conduct job interviews and be able to determine if candidate is a fit to lead Tennis lessons.
- Must be available throughout majority of programs to oversee success.
