The City of Fort Worth Park & Recreation Department is seeking an experienced and dynamic individual to fill the current vacancy of Field Operations Supervisor -Golf Course Maintenance at Pecan Valley Golf Course.
Pecan Valley Golf Course is a 36-hole complex that includes a driving range. Pecan Valley is located in southwest Fort Worth adjacent to Benbrook Lake. This facility features the River Course and the Hills Course. Pecan Valley River is always considered one of the best courses within Tarrant County.
Minimum Qualifications:
- HS Diploma/GED supplemented by specialized training related to assigned operations and services and four years of related experience.
- Valid Texas Class C driver’s license.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicators License
- Golf Course Superintendents Association of America
- Must pass Drug Screen
Preferred Qualifications:
- Five (5) years or more in verifiable golf course maintenance activities.
- Prior Head Golf Course Superintendent experience.
- Applicants with warm season grasses; i.e. Tif-Dwarf Bermuda, TifTuf, 419 Bermuda, Champions or Tif-eagle.
- Grow-in experience
- GCSAA Class A Superintendent
The Field Operations Supervisor - Golf Course Maintenance job responsibilities include:
- Supervise, coordinate and review the work of subordinate personnel responsible for various construction, maintenance, repair, and operational activities for golf course operations; evaluate work accomplished and analyze effectiveness and efficiency of work completed.
- Supervise scheduled preventative maintenance programs for equipment, turfgrass and facilities in golf course operations; review daily reports related to work performed by personnel; maintain records of time, material, and equipment used for projects or services.
- Select, train, motivate and evaluate golf course operations personnel; provide or coordinate employee training; work with subordinate employees to correct deficiencies; implement discipline and termination procedures.
- Participate in departmental and divisional meetings; inform, advise and receive input on golf course operations with other division personnel; prepare the annual operating budget for golf course maintenance to include backup information to support budget.
- Continuously monitor and evaluate the quality, responsiveness, efficiency and effectiveness of assigned golf operations programs, methods, and procedures; work with personnel on the continuous improvement of golf course operations services.
- Supervise the mechanical and electrical maintenance on golf facilities and equipment; maintain inventory of supplies, equipment and chemicals used; monitor use of appropriate supplies, tools, and equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and prepare daily and administrative reports pertaining to policy and procedures of golf course operations.
- Provide and participate in construction, repair, and/or maintenance services for golf course operations.
- Prescribe correct applications of fertilizers and pesticides; manage turf and plant materials as required; supervise the planting, transplanting, and removal of plant materials at assigned golf course location. Maintain accurate records of all chemical applications as required by state and local law.
