JOB SUMMARY:
Working under the direction of the Recreation Supervisor and Camp Director, the Leader is responsible for providing a balanced, safe, fun and supervised program of recreational activities to children registered for summer camps. This position requires good leadership, written and communication skills.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Maintain attendance/sign-in sheets for all children registered.
- Assist with the planning, organization, and direction of a well-balanced program of activities.
- Be responsible for all equipment and materials belonging to the city and maintain gym, rec. rooms, storage area, etc. in a neat, safe and secure fashion.
- Maintain cleanliness of the facility
- Under the direction of the Camp Director, develop with the Camp Director and children a set of camp rules/communicate rules to participants/ensure rules are posted and communicated and enforced.
- Work cooperatively and professionally and be courteous to all staff, children and parents involved with the program.
- Acknowledge children and parents upon arrival and dismissal. Maintain open and respectful communications with parents of camp participants.
- Complete accident reports as needed.
- Promptly report any disciplinary and/or safety problems concerning children, facility and/or staff to the Director
- Wear staff shirt at all times and dress appropriately for working with children.
- Ensure the efficient use of camp time.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- 16 years of age or older (work permit required for those under the age of 18)
OTHER DESIRABLES:
- First Aid and/or CPR certification
- Must be knowledgeable of basic first aid procedures and know the location of the first aid supplies at your camp location
- Be knowledgeable of disciplinary procedures in order to ensure a safe, fun and productive environment for children and staff.
SKILLS (Communication/Language; Mathematical; Computer; etc.)
- Ability to read and interpret documents using the English Language
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and an ability to interact with children of varying ages.
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Basic Mathematical skills

Physical demands are varying depending upon program being offered. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree with light to moderate lifting of 50lbs or less. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision.

Salary : $16 - $18
