What are the responsibilities and job description for the Full-Time Police Cadet position at The City of Moraine?
Description
Our Police Division is currently hiring for a full-time Police Cadet, we are looking for people driven by a desire to contribute, committed to public service, and who possess a willingness to be challenged.
Applicants for this position must be 18 years of age by the time of appointment, but no older than 20 years of age. The Cadet position terminates at the age of 21 with possible appointment to the rank of police officer.
Successful candidates must enroll, at the City’s expense, in Sinclair’s Police Science Program (or similar college program) to earn an associate degree after being hired.
Salary
Entry-level pay is $17.05/hour. Benefits package includes paid insurance for medical, prescription, dental, vision and life; paid vacations, holidays, and sick leave; paid college tuition and uniforms.
Qualifications
- At the time of appointment, applicants must be high school graduates (or GED).
- Must be at least 18 years of age by the time of appointment, but no older than 19 years of age and be physically capable of performing all essential functions of the position.
- Possess valid Ohio state driver’s license.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check is required. All candidates must be willing to submit to random drug screenings.
Special Requirements
After an application is received, the applicant will receive further instructions at the direction of the City including an scored open exam.
Upon completion of the exam, all candidate scores will be ranked according to their score and placed on the eligibility list. The City of Moraine will contact each candidate following the exam with their overall score and ranking.
Applicants considered for further processing may undergo additional interviews, criminal background and reference checks, medical exam, psychological test, polygraph, and fitness assessment.
