RECREATION LEADER I (SUMMER)
Pay Minimum: $14.00/hr
Must be 18 yrs of age as of June 1. A valid FL Driver’s License is required. Some college coursework in Recreation, Physical Education, Education K-8, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have experience supervising individuals and groups in recreation or sports-focused activities, along with knowledge of various sports, fitness activities, and other recreational programs. Experience leading team or individual sports is preferred. Conversational Spanish is a plus but not required.
This position includes general recreation leadership duties and may also involve instructing at a Sports Camp for three weeks during the summer: June 23-26, July 7-10, and July 28-31.
Position Summary:
Position is for the part time and/or seasonal recreation program staff with flexible program support duties such as, but not limited to: athletic official, concession stand worker, tennis center assistant, skate park attendant, after school attendant, special project assistant, building rental monitor, recreation/community center front desk attendant, or special event assistant. Work is reviewed through oral and written reports, discussion, and results obtained.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to perform duties in a public setting showing stellar customer service.
For officials: knowledge of the particular sport’s rules is preferred.
For all duties: ability to learn and understand the particular duty’s rules, regulations, and procedures.
Not every duty is required to meet each specified level of Essential Physical Abilities and Environmental Conditions listed below. Levels listed are for athletic officials, other duties are rated at lower levels.
Education and Experience:
Minimally a current high school student.
Minimum age of 14 at time of hiring.
Experience in the particular sport or duty applying for is preferred.
Certificates and Licenses:
Some duties require driving. When driving is required, possession of a valid Florida driver’s license is required, and driver must be insurable by the City’s current insurance carrier.
Most duties will not require driving a City vehicle.

Emergency Responsibilities:
In the event of an emergency or disaster, an employee may be required to respond promptly to duties and responsibilities as assigned by the employee’s department, Emergency Management or City Administration. Such assignments may be before, during or after the emergency/disaster.
