The Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department - Tourism Division, is currently accepting applications for the following positions:

Recreation Specialist II | $13.00 - $15.32 per hour / DOQ |
Recreation Specialist III | $15.00 - $17.80 per hour / DOQ |
These are seasonal, part-time positions with varying hours to include evenings, weekends and holidays.
The positions may be assigned to work in a variety of areas, including, but not limited to:

Valid Driver's License (required for some positions)
Types of duties include but are not limited to the following:

Performs excellent customer service when welcoming and serving guests.
-
Observes safety rules in order to maintain safe parks and facilities.
-
Assist and/or responsible for opening and closing of parks and facilities.
-
Turn on facility or field lights at designated times.
-
Completes daily reports, work requests and incident reports as required.
-
Assist with special events.
-
Assist with internal department mail pick-up and delivery.
-
Performs housekeeping duties as needed -- trash pick-up and equipment upkeep.
-
Assists with recreation programming and facilities.
-
Possess money handling skills in order to successfully and accurately process cash and card transactions.
-
Maintain a clean work environment and proper procedures.
-
Performs various manual tasks in the maintenance of assigned recreational facilities, grounds, and equipment.
-
Assists in setup and breakdown of events to include tables, chairs, carpet, etc.
-
Performs general ground keeping duties, including but not limited to cleaning debris from and cleaning pavement, removing trash and debris from grounds, dust mopping gym floors, operating floor scrubber, etc.
-
Performs custodial tasks such as cleaning buildings and restrooms, removing trash, and replenishing supplies.
-
Participates in cross training opportunities and performs all other duties as may be assigned to meet organizational needs.

Prepare, serve and organize catering requests.
-
Operate large volume cooking equipment such as grills, deep fryers, or griddles.
-
Operation of food preparation equipment and knowledge of standards and protocols for food safety.
-
Verify that prepared foods meet requirements for quality and quantity.
-
Wash, cut, and prepare foods designed for cooking.
-
Read orders aloud from kitchen printer or receive verbal instructions as to food required by patron and prepare and cook food according to instructions.
-
Cook and prepare food items such as: hamburgers, hot dogs, and chicken tenders.
-
Cook items ordered by each customer, working on several different orders simultaneously.
-
Pre-cook items in small quantity for later use by keeping them warm to prevent food waste.
-
Serve orders to customers at window and counter.
-
Clean, stock, and re-stock workstations daily.
-
Clean food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils.
-
Maintain sanitation, health, and safety standards in work areas.
-
Setup / shut down BMX starters gate, including routine compressor tasks.
-
Ability to ride a BMX bicycle on track over the course several hours in one day.
-
Provide assistance and support to parks and facility daily operations including but not exclusive to safety, programs, concessions, admissions, or special events as needed to meet the goals of the department.

May serve as work shift lead to support parks and facility daily operations including but not exclusive to safety, programs, concessions, admissions, or special events as needed to meet the goals of the department.

Maintain trail and playground courts.

Knowledge of first-aid methods and necessary safety precautions required in park settings.

Ability to work nights and weekends.

Ability to take concession orders and enter into register system.

Ability to assist with custodial duties and minor maintenance needs.

Ability to enforce rules and regulations to maintain order.
-
Ability to inspect and prepare facilities for various activities.
-
Ability to observe safety rules and regulations and practices safety techniques per department safety standards.

Ability to observe hours of duty, leave and other attendance obligations per department attendance standards.

Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.

Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers.

Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.

Work is performed on-site the incumbent must be present at work to perform the essential functions of this job.
