$1200 Welcome Bonus*
*Pro-rated by FTE. Bonus will be added to October 2025 paycheck, provided the candidate has completed all Human Resources requirements.

SALARY:
$51,011.80-$55,203.00*
*depending upon previous relevant experience. Actual starting pay rate will be determined after a review of the work experience provided on the job application and resume.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Resource teacher is a member of the multi-disciplinary professional team responsible for the administration of assessments to determine educational disabilities. The Special Education teacher works to ensure meaningful parent participation and develops Individualized Education Program (IEP) plans within a multi-disciplinary team approach. The special education teacher provides direct, explicit, and remedial academic instruction, consultation to parents and teachers for students with an IEP. Also provides students with experiences that will give them opportunities to develop mature, responsible behaviors necessary for future success, and to ensure instruction is differentiated and provided in the least restrictive environment alongside non-disabled peers.

Reports to the Director of Student Support Services
Collaborative relationship with building level principals

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Knowledgeable in working with students that demonstrate a wide range of academic, social/emotional and behavior needs to ensure meaningful education and academic progress
  • Provide research-based, data driven specialized instruction to address the instructional goals and objectives contained within each student’s IEP using a variety of individual and group activities.
  • Serve as a member of the multi-disciplinary team to identify students with disabilities
  • Assess student progress and determine the need for additional reinforcement or adjustments to instructional techniques.
  • Employ various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet their IEP goals.
  • Establish and maintain positive classroom management.
  • Provide appropriate academic instruction, behavioral and/or social/emotional supports to students using research-driven intervention methods and strategies.
  • Must be able to demonstrate competency in directing the day-to-day activities of assigned paraprofessionals.
  • Develop and implement annual IEPs as district case manager for students to include present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and special education services required to meet those goals.
  • Provide consultation to regular education, special education, support staff and parents, and other agencies regarding programming for students with learning needs
  • Advocate for students with different learning needs for instructional accommodations and inclusive practices to ensure a meaningful education
  • Serve a continuum of students in a variety of settings ranging from partial to full inclusion
  • Plan, develop, maintain, and review Individualized Educational Programs, and collect ESY data as required under the IDEA and ECEA
  • Establish and maintain confidential records of screenings, evaluations, and progress towards goals as required under the IDEA and ECEA rules
  • Prepare and submit reports for the Director of Student Support Services
  • Attend conferences and workshops regarding learning disabilities and intervention techniques
  • Participate in staff development activities as required
  • Deliver interventions to all levels in the identified area(s) of need in the IEP with direct, explicit instruction
  • Use technology in communication with students, peers, parents, and administration
  • Always facilitate inclusion of all students and model disability etiquette
  • Design motivational strategies for at-risk learners within a multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Develop and coordinate behavior management plans within a multi-disciplinary team approach
  • Perform other duties as requested from the Director of Student Support Services

MARGINAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assist other members of the Student Support Services multidisciplinary team as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, and additional coursework required for Special Education Generalist licensure
  • Master’s degree in Special Education preferred
  • Valid Colorado Teaching license/certificate endorsed Special Education Generalist required
  • Will consider TTE for strong candidates

EXPERIENCE:
Experience working in an educational setting preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and methodology of effective teaching of students with disabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and procedures of special education.
  • Demonstrate the ability to work with students of all ages and disabling conditions
  • Always maintain confidentiality of all records and information under FERPA, IDEA and ECEA requirements
  • Train and oversee Student Support Service paraprofessional
  • Initiate contact with parents and serve as a liaison
  • Facilitate clear communication between students, parents, teachers, counselors, and building administration
  • Display positive collegial relationships
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing

  • Work is performed primarily in the Resource classroom setting
  • Required to work normal business hours with additional hours as needed

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • occasionally lift/carry burdens weighing up to 30 lbs. and push/pull/maneuver burdens weighing up to 100 lbs.
  • Stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, and balance while working or helping students
  • Spend equivalent amounts of the time sitting, standing, and walking while performing job duties
