The Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) serves approximately 37,000 students in 100 schools. The Cleveland Plan defines CMSD's approach to the reinvention of public education and holds our community accountable for the success of Cleveland's schoolchildren. The Cleveland Plan is supported by Ohio House Bill 525, which provides much-needed flexibility and autonomy for the district and its schools. Our schools have autonomy over human and financial resources in exchange for accountability for

performance. The principal has primary responsibility and accountability for establishing his or her school as a high-quality, high-expectations academic center with a focus on personalized instruction, professional support for teachers, and school-wide practices that lead to measurable results.

The Cleveland Metropolitan School District has developed standards of excellence that the district applies to all parts of the organization inclusive of schools, principals, school leadership teams, networks, and central office. Alignment between Standards of Excellence (SoE) and the district's Theory of Action helps ensure that principals are able to focus on scholar achievement and that central office supports are timely and effective.

The professional learning coordinator role involves a combination of facilitating professional learning, managing online systems, and supporting logistical aspects of professional development events.

The professional learning coordinator is someone who enjoys facilitating learning for others and has a strong command of best practices in adult learning. The coordinator is a tech-savvy individual who will maintain the PowerSchool Professional learning system, ensuring that educators receive Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for all District professional development. The coordinator learns new District curricular tools, trains teachers and principals on these resources, and supports curriculum implementation. This person provides front desk office support, makes room reservations, and ensures professional development classrooms are prepared for learning. The coordinator is also highly organized and enjoys planning logistical details for large professional development events.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Acts as primary manager of the District's professional learning system - PowerSchool Professional Learning
  • Performs daily tasks related to the District's professional learning system, including creating courses in the system, ensuring continuing education units are awarded for all professional learning opportunities, approving courses and external credit requests, running quarterly reports, summarizing District professional development trends, and troubleshooting as needed
  • Creates templates and protocols to help colleagues in the Division of Academics develop professional learning plans
  • Facilitates sessions for academic leaders focused on best practices in professional learning
  • Conducts regular check-ins with departments to identify support needed to successfully implement learning plans
  • Conducts school and classroom visits to monitor and support implementation of curriculum and instructional practices
  • Provides support for the implementation of District grant programs
  • Designs self-paced courses in the Schoology platform
  • Serves as primary manager of the District's Skillsoft license. Performs tasks related to Skillsoft include promoting ongoing use of content and reporting monthly usage trends.
  • Supports management of East Professional Center (EPC) classrooms and large professional development events. This includes assisting with basic technology setup, ensuring proper signage, and proactively managing potential challenges
  • Responds to and manages room reservation requests
  • Sends communications and creates presentations
  • Performs other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 3 years of prior experience in teaching or adult learning
  • Experience with Smartsheet preferred
  • Experience using PowerSchool Professional Learning preferred
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Efficient email management skills
  • Ability to independently coordinate, plan, and meet deadlines and accomplish specific tasks
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively regarding detailed information and procedures
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • Strong knowledge of basic adult learning practices and procedures
  • Ability to exercise good judgment, possess integrity, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding sensitive information
