POSITION SUMMARY
This role will work in the Sustaining team and will be responsible for various cost, product and maintenance
improvements of commercial HVAC products that meet or exceed best-in-class performance and reliability targets
across multiple platforms and product families, as well as manufacturing support for existing products.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Essential Functions Statement(s)
• Provide measurable contribution to sustaining initiatives.
• Manage individual projects and special engineering requests throughout the complete development cycle.
• Support manufacturing, sales & marketing, quality, technical services, and supply chain functions.
• Interface with vendors, customers, and field personnel.
• Lead product qualification and agency compliance test programs.
• Document product designs and changes by preparing bills of material, drawings, special customer
requests, and product change notifications.
• Design, optimize and qualify HVAC systems employing advanced analytical methods and experimental
techniques.
• Interface with regulatory agencies and test agencies.
Skills & Abilities
Education:
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Preferred emphasis on HVAC system design or
thermal sciences.
Experience:
• 5 years design & project experience preferred.
Computer Skills:
• Experience with state-of-the-art simulation tools.
• Familiar with computer programming languages.
• Familiar with Microsoft Office suite products.
Certificates & Licenses:
• EPA Section 608 Refrigerant Certification – Universal, is a plus.
Other Requirements:
• Knowledge of HVAC system design and applications; familiarity with the systems component design,
integration, and interactions.
• Familiarity with the New Product Development (NPD) process, Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) and Design
for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles.
• Knowledge of the fundamentals of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, and heat exchanger
design.
• Knowledge of industry standards and agency compliance.
• Knowledge of air management & aeroacoustics and structural analysis.
• Knowledge of manufacturing methods used in HVAC&R field; industrial experience is a plus but not
required.
• Familiarity with system controls, sequence of operations and electrical wiring methods.
• Familiarity with data acquisition, advanced experimental techniques, instrumentation, calibration,
measurement systems, uncertainty analysis and DoE concepts.
• Hands-on skills and experience in working with laboratory equipment, test stands and instrumentation.
