POSITION: Receptionist
REPORTS TO: Manager of Guest Services
STATUS: Part Time Hourly – Non-Exempt

OVERVIEW: The Receptionist represents Coalition for the Homeless as the first impression of the agency to all volunteers, visitors and Coalition guests. The position of Reception requires a high degree of professionalism, commitment and adaptability in order to effectively uphold the Coalition’s values and maintain an environment of dignity, respect and cooperation.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide appropriate assistance and/or information to guests, visitors, volunteers, and donors.
- Greet all persons as they enter the building in a professional manner.
- Screen all individuals requiring access beyond the lobby and monitor badges for Coalition guests.
- Answer phones and route them to the proper individual or department.
- Assist all volunteers with sign-in at the kiosk station and direct them to the assigned location.
- Correctly log all in-kind donations received, provide a copy of the receipt to the donor, and thank them for their gift.
- Assist with the distribution of mail for guests.
- Attend staff meetings as required.
- Perform any and all other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
- The Volunteer Assistant must possess at least a high school diploma or GED.
- Excellent customer service experience is a must.
- Understanding of homeless or low-income populations is desirable.
- Must be proficient in written and verbal communication.
- The ability to effectively serve a very diverse population with aptitude in the areas of conflict resolution, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours based on the needs of the agency, which may include evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience with a multi-line phone system is preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
