Overview
The Youth Program Coordinator will provide appropriate case management and instruction for youth ranging from 5 to 17 years of age. Under the direct supervision of the Youth Program Supervisor, the Youth Program Coordinator will facilitate one-on-one mentoring and implement life skills programs, tutoring/academic assistance, health and nutrition programs, and a variety of other services for homeless youth who are participants in the Homeless Youth and Families Program. The Coordinator will focus on assisting school-aged guests of the Coalition of Central Florida. The Youth Program Coordinator is responsible for maintaining case files of assigned youth enrolled in the program and fulfilling additional programmatic needs as determined by the Youth Program Supervisor. This role requires a high degree of ethics, commitment, compassion, and flexibility to uphold the mission and values of the Youth Program and the Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise youth during daily schedules of indoor and outdoor activities, field trips, outings, and special events.
- Maintain relationships with youth and families and facilitate youth participation.
- Track and document program sessions with sign-in sheets, detailed notes, photos, and other appropriate methods.
- Assist the Program Supervisor in designing the curriculum and program activities.
- Instruct, lead, and facilitate prepared curriculum and program materials.
- Conduct program evaluations using tools like programmatic rating scales, risk assessment tools, life skills surveys, and satisfaction surveys.
- Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research, and other academic tasks.
- Analyze youth needs, develop goals to address them, and provide community referrals as needed.
- Address learning disabilities, behavioral issues, and other obstacles to youth progress.
- Establish a program environment promoting positive interactions among children, youth, and adults.
- Empower students and parents to be proactive in education and learning.
- Enter and maintain accurate youth files and case notes.
- Participate in planning meetings, case discussions, and group coordination.
- Assist the Program Supervisor with screenings, evaluations, and referrals.
- Actively recruit youth into the Youth Program.
- Implement programmatic activities on health, fitness, nutrition, tutoring, and life skills.
- Comply with all grant deliverables and reporting/documentation requirements in a timely and accurate manner.
- Maintain a clean and tidy youth room space daily.
- Assist the Youth Program Supervisor with additional duties as assigned.
- Exemplify the Coalition mission statement and adhere to agency policies and procedures.
Qualifications and Required Skills
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
- 3-5 years of experience working with youth with behavioral issues or disabilities.
- 3-5 years of experience in Children and Families Experiencing Homelessness Services (preferred).
- 3-5 years of teaching/tutoring experience or other relevant work with school-aged youth.
- 3-5 years of case management experience.
- Bilingual candidates are highly encouraged to apply.

- Adaptability and flexibility in the face of change and varying responsibilities.
- Ability to work under pressure with multiple students.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word, with the ability to learn new programs.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Ability to document and analyze case notes effectively.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to develop rapport with guests.
- CPR/First Aid certification required (or willingness to obtain certification).
- Upon hiring, candidate must pass a Level 2 background screening.
- Work environment is characteristic of normal office conditions but frequently involves outdoor activities.
- Requires the ability to stand, walk, reach with hands, and handle or lift items up to 20 pounds.
- Involves exposure to elements such as hot and cold temperatures during outdoor programs.
