The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist will assist in ensuring that the organization complies with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This is a non-exempt position located in LaVergne, TN, and will provide EHS support across all entities within The Coats Company. The role involves supporting the development and implementation of EHS policies, conducting safety inspections, and promoting a culture of safety in the workplace. The position is full-time, based in the office five days per week, and does not offer a remote work option.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance Support: Assist in ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, local and state agencies).
  • EHS Programs: Help implement and maintain EHS programs and policies under the guidance of the EHS Manager.
  • Continuous Improvement: Assist in continuous improvement efforts in safety processes, procedures, and policies to reduce risk and enhance safety culture.
  • Inspections: Conduct regular safety inspections of the facility to identify potential hazards and unsafe conditions, and report findings to the EHS team.
  • Incident Reporting: Assist the team in the investigation of workplace incidents, accidents, or near-misses, and contribute to the development of corrective actions.
  • Training: Assist in preparing and delivering safety training for employees on topics such as PPE usage, emergency procedures, and general workplace safety.
  • Recordkeeping: Maintain accurate records of inspections, incidents, and safety training in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Assessment: Assist in conducting risk assessments and hazard analyses to identify opportunities for improvement in safety processes.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Support the EHS team in coordinating emergency drills and preparing emergency response plans.
  • Environmental Management: Assist in waste disposal, pollution prevention, and energy conservation initiatives to ensure environmental sustainability.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour certification preferred (training may be provided).
  • Experience: Prior roles or internships related to EHS are preferred.
  • Knowledge: Basic understanding of EHS regulations and safety practices is preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to conduct site walk-throughs and inspections in a variety of industrial environments.

Pay: From $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
