Essential Job Duties
- Assume responsibility for the safety of campers.
- Be familiar with risk management and emergency action plans.
- Enact risk management and emergency action plans as necessary.
- Log incident/accident reports as required.
- Know where campers are at all times.
- Follow Camp objectives, policies and procedures, and guidelines.
- Serve as a positive role model and mentor.
- Show a genuine interest in campers.
- Plan, organize, and lead various group activities each week that are recreational and educational.
- Use group management skills to reinforce good behavior and to provide engaging activities.
- Maintain, clean, and organize program equipment as assigned.
- Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.
- Communicate with Director camper issues as they arise.
- Work cooperatively with Camp Assistants, Camp instructors, and College Staff.
- Other duties as assigned by the Director and College Staff.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Understanding of, and commitment to, Equal Access/Equal Opportunity.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Knowledge of College mission, policies, procedures, and services.
- Proficient in the use of technology.
- Must have an Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution.
- Previous teaching experience required; camp experience preferred.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors while maintaining stamina and energy.
- Possess strong critical thinking, decision making, and strong communication skills.
- Loyalty, honesty, and a commitment to excellence.
- No conflicting summer commitments during term of employment.
- Desire and ability to work with children. Must have some experience working with youth.
- Must be a team player.
- Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program activities in a healthy and safe environment.
- Possess interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student body.
- Possess, or be able to obtain, a valid first aid & CPR certification preferred.
- Must be able to pass a Level-2 background check.
