What are the responsibilities and job description for the Seasonal Gardener position at The Colorado Chautauqua?
Colorado Chautauqua is hiring Gardeners for the 2025 season (mid-April thru early October). This is a seasonal position responsible for the care of all the landscape and garden features within The Colorado Chautauqua Park Campus. This includes planting and caring for the flowers, shrubs, trees, groundcovers, planters, niche gardens and lawns located throughout the campus. Assuring that the gardens, flowers, planters, niche gardens, cottage and park lawns are planted, pruned, watered, weeded et cetera. Seasonal Gardeners may be asked on occasion to assist other members of the Chautauqua Staff with various tasks.
Interested parties should be aware that this position is physically demanding. Weekend work will be required to meet the expectations of the position.
As a Seasonal Gardener, you will need the following:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience with landscape maintenance work and familiarity with hand tools.
- Physical ability to perform tasks requiring continuous walking, standing, bending, etc. Ability to work outdoors in varied weather conditions.
And you are:
- Punctual and reliable.
- High energy team player with a positive, can-do attitude.
- A good listener, able to follow directions.
- An active learner with a strong sense of curiosity. Self-motivated and able to work independently; proactively looking for ways to be more helpful and to stay busy.
Starting hourly: $19.00
