POSITION SUMMARY
The Crisis Care Navigator – DV is an essential member of the Adult Services Team, providing immediate and ongoing support to survivors of domestic violence. This role ensures survivors receive comprehensive, trauma-informed care, working closely with internal team members, external agencies, and community partners to help survivors navigate medical, legal, and recovery processes.
This position is highly team-oriented, engaging in daily check-ins, weekly case consultations, and collaborative problem-solving to ensure seamless advocacy. In partnership with the Crisis Care Navigator – Sexual Assault (SA), this role will develop and implement staff training on sexual and domestic violence to strengthen organizational expertise.
The Crisis Care Navigator – DV is also an emergency response advocate, responding to hospitals, law enforcement agencies, and other crisis settings to provide immediate, on-the-ground advocacy for survivors of both sexual and domestic violence.
This role requires exceptional crisis response skills, strong collaboration abilities, and a survivor-centered approach.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Crisis Intervention & Survivor Advocacy
ØProvide immediate crisis response and emotional support to survivors of domestic violence at hospitals, law enforcement centers, and emergency shelters.
ØServe as a rotating on-call responder (during business hours) for emergency advocacy and domestic violence safety planning.
ØConduct safety planning with survivors, ensuring individualized safety strategies and access to protection resources, and connect survivors with emergency housing, protection resources, and legal remedies.
ØAssist survivors in filing protection orders, crime victim compensation applications, and securing emergency financial assistance.
ØOffer short-term crisis skill-building and referrals to long-term therapy and support services.
Team-Based Case Management & Collaboration
ØParticipate in daily team meetings to discuss new cases, problem-solve barriers, and ensure continuity of survivor care.
ØEngage in weekly case consultations with team members to review ongoing cases, share expertise, and refine advocacy approaches.
ØWork closely with the Crisis Care Navigator – SA to ensure seamless, coordinated services for survivors experiencing both sexual and domestic violence.
ØProvide walk-in crisis coverage on a rotating schedule, ensuring survivors receive immediate in-person support when needed.
ØMaintain clear, survivor-centered communication with therapists, legal advocates, and case managers to develop comprehensive care plans.
Training & Organizational Development
ØCo-lead the development and facilitation of staff training on sexual and domestic violence, in partnership with the Crisis Care Navigator – SA.
ØServe as an agency expert on domestic violence, providing ongoing education and technical assistance to staff and external partners.
ØCollaborate with outreach teams to enhance community education initiatives around sexual violence awareness, prevention, and survivor support.
Systems Navigation & Community Partnerships
ØAct as a liaison between survivors and external agencies, advocating for survivors rights and ensuring equitable access to services.
ØProvide court accompaniment and legal advocacy, supporting survivors through protection order hearings, legal proceedings, and law enforcement interactions.
ØBuild and maintain strong working relationships with domestic violence shelters, legal service providers, law enforcement, and other agencies to improve survivor-centered response systems.
ØIdentify systemic barriers impacting survivors and work with leadership to implement policy recommendations and advocacy strategies.
Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
ØEnsure timely, accurate, and confidential case documentation in accordance with agency policies and legal requirements.
ØTrack service utilization trends, survivor outcomes, and systemic challenges, providing data-driven feedback to leadership.
ØMaintain knowledge of state and federal victim rights laws, staying informed on legislative updates affecting survivors of sexual violence.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
ØBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or a related field preferred. Equivalent experience in crisis intervention, victim advocacy, or survivor services will be considered.
ØMinimum of 2 years of experience in domestic violence advocacy, crisis response, or related direct-service roles.
ØStrong knowledge of trauma-informed care, survivor-centered advocacy, and legal processes affecting sexual violence survivors.
ØAbility to work effectively as part of a highly collaborative team, participating in daily check-ins and weekly case consultations.
ØExperience developing and facilitating training programs on sexual violence advocacy is strongly preferred.
ØExceptional problem-solving and crisis de-escalation skills, with the ability to navigate high-pressure situations with professionalism and empathy.
ØStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust with survivors and maintain constructive relationships with law enforcement, medical professionals, and service agencies.
ØAbility to work flexible hours, including some evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as part of a rotating crisis response schedule.
ØCommitment to confidentiality, ethical advocacy, and survivor-centered service delivery.

ØSystems Navigation & Legal Process Support- Strong understanding of protection orders, emergency housing systems, and legal protections for domestic violence survivors. Ability to advocate within the legal system, ensuring survivors are treated fairly and have access to legal remedies. Experience coordinating with law enforcement, hospitals, prosecutors, and other service providers.
ØCollaboration & Teamwork- Actively participates in daily check-ins, weekly case consultations, and team decision-making. Works seamlessly with other advocates, therapists, and external partners to coordinate survivor services. Able to balance individual case management responsibilities with broader team and agency goals.
ØSurvivor-Centered Case Management- Ensures all survivor interactions are trauma-sensitive, empowering, and based on survivor choice. Uses case tracking systems and follow-up protocols to ensure survivors receive ongoing support. Identifies and proactively removes barriers survivors face when accessing services.
ØTraining & Organizational Leadership- Develops and delivers staff training on sexual and domestic violence, ensuring a well-informed agency approach. Serves as an internal expert on sexual violence, providing guidance on best practices. Engages in community education efforts to increase awareness of survivor needs and available services.
ØProfessionalism & Advocacy Ethics- Maintains the highest level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical advocacy. Balances fierce survivor advocacy with professional diplomacy in system interactions. Understands vicarious trauma and self-care strategies, ensuring sustainability in the role.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position operates in a fast-paced professional office and/or clinical environment and requires regular interaction with clients, staff, and community partners while maintaining a high standard of confidentiality and professionalism.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS
This is a full-time, exempt position working 36 core hours per week with some flexibility in scheduling.
Hybrid work model, with a combination of office-based, field-based (hospitals, law enforcement, courts, etc.), and remote work as needed.
On-call rotation for crisis response, requiring occasional evening and weekend work.
