Strategic Communications Manager
Job Description
The Congressional Award Foundation is seeking a Strategic Communications Manager to lead and enhance the organization’s communication efforts. This individual will play a pivotal role in creating impactful content, managing public relations, and driving the Foundation’s visibility and influence.
Your Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute comprehensive communication strategies that align with the Foundation’s mission and goals.
- Take ownership of projects from conception to completion, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
Content Development & Design
- Create high-quality content, including written materials, social media assets, and donor-facing storytelling pieces, to elevate the Foundation’s profile.
- Design engaging visuals and graphics for digital and print platforms using tools like Adobe Creative Suite or Canva.
Time Management & Initiative
- Proactively manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and take the initiative to address communication needs without prompting.
- Identify opportunities to improve communication workflows and implement solutions independently.
Client-Facing Engagement
- Represent the Foundation in interviews, media engagements, and networking opportunities.
- Foster strong relationships with external partners, including sponsors, media outlets, and stakeholders.
Social Media & Digital Marketing
- Oversee the social media calendar, creating and curating content for platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
- Manage digital marketing campaigns, including email communications, to engage target audiences effectively.
Press & Media Relations
- Draft press releases, media pitches, and announcements.
- Cultivate relationships with media contacts to secure coverage and amplify the Foundation’s voice.
Event Communications Support
- Develop pre-event promotional strategies and post-event communications, including feedback surveys.
- Collaborate with the events team to create materials that highlight sponsor contributions and enhance event branding.
Brand Consistency & Web Management
- Maintain brand voice and visual consistency across all communication platforms.
- Regularly update the website with compelling content and manage its overall presence.
Who You Are
The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following qualities:
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- 1 years of experience in strategic communications, graphic design, or related roles, preferred.
- Experience in non-profit communications is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and social media management tools.
- Experience with website content management systems (e.g., WordPress).
Personal Attributes
- Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong interpersonal skills and confidence in client-facing situations.
- Creativity and attention to detail in crafting engaging visuals and content.
- A self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management.
Work Style
- Comfortable working in a hybrid remote/in-office environment in Washington, DC (2 days a week in-office, minimum).
- Adaptable to a dynamic workplace with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
