Key Responsibilities
- Project Analysis
- Review project documents, including blueprints, specifications, and scope of work, to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Analyze electrical drawings and schematics to identify materials, equipment, and labor necessary for project completion.
- Material Takeoff
- Quantify and estimate the quantities of materials required for electrical installations, such as wiring, conduits, fixtures, and electrical components.
- Utilize industry-standard methods and software tools to perform accurate material takeoffs and pricing calculations.
- Labor Estimation
- Assess the labor requirements for electrical projects based on project scope, complexity, and timeline.
- Calculate labor costs by considering factors such as manpower, skill levels, productivity rates, and project duration.
- Cost Estimation
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for electrical projects, including material costs, labor costs, equipment rentals, subcontractor costs, and overhead expenses.
- Ensure that estimates are comprehensive, accurate, and competitive while adhering to budgetary constraints and quality standards.
- Bid Preparation
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to develop bid proposals that meet client requirements and specifications.
- Prepare bid documents, including cost breakdowns, pricing schedules, and proposal narratives, in a clear and professional manner.
- Value Engineering

- Contract Negotiation

- Risk Assessment
- Identify potential risks and uncertainties associated with electrical projects, such as regulatory compliance, schedule delays, material shortages, and cost overruns.
- Develop risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to minimize project risks and maximize project success.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of estimating activities, including cost estimates, bid documents, correspondence, and project files.
- Generate reports and analysis to track bid success rates, estimate accuracy, and performance metrics.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
- Proven experience in electrical estimating within the construction industry, with a focus on commercial, industrial, or residential projects.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform detailed material takeoffs and cost calculations.
- Familiarity with construction estimating software such as Accubid, McCormick, or similar tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
- Strong negotiation skills and business acumen, with the ability to develop competitive bid proposals and negotiate favorable contracts.
