Key Responsibilities
- Job costing - Support the job costing process. Assist with costing construction projects across 5 different brands and several types of projects. Conduct audits of completed construction projects to ensure accuracy and appropriate breakdown of costs.
- Accounts payable - maintain bill plans, help manage cash, and ensure timely payment of obligations.
- Other financial process support - Review and process receipts, financial statements, invoices, transactions, and other accounting documents to ensure completeness and accuracy of information and application to the appropriate job for costing. Support other related accounting responsibilities, such as bank reconciliations; month-end closing activities; compilation of financial information for company presentations; B&O, sales tax, and other state/local filings; other various financial-related tasks.
- Cross-functional collaboration - Coordinate with sales and production teams and work within our CRM and project management system (BuilderTrend) to audit jobs and verify completeness and accuracy of data. Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure timely completion of financial reporting requirements. Help support company compliance (business licenses, taxes, other federal/state/local filings).
- Continuous process improvement - Identify areas for improvement in finance and accounting processes and make recommendations to management; assist with technology implementations (we are currently evaluating our tech stack and developing a roadmap to simplify, automate, and integrate).
- 3 years' experience in accounting or financial auditing
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Financial certifications (such as CMA or CPA) strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of GAAP accounting, job costing, and associated financial concepts
- Proficient in QuickBooks Online (QBO) Advanced (or Intuit Enterprise Suite) and Microsoft Office suite
- Expert in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with Googlesheets
- Excellent communicator (written and oral)
- Proactive, organized, and extremely detailed
- Natural propensity for numbers and financial analysis
- Ability to analyze data and make sense of the numbers; can communicate financial results effectively to stakeholders
- Very detailed with the drive to self-review and catch/fix errors or issues proactively
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Self-starter; Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
- Can-do attitude and internal motivation to tackle challenges and adapt to change
- Construction industry experience; knowledge of construction industry regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with or basic understanding of intercompany accounting (we are 5 separate operating divisions)
- Familiarity with BuilderTrend and Asana
- Experience with Washington and Oregon state and local filings and compliance
- Work/life flexibility - PCF's HR/admin team offers a hybrid and flexible work schedule. You will be expected to work at least 3 days at the headquarters building located in Kent, Washington. [Note: designated in-office days are required and this is not a position for an out-of-state applicant to consider. Initial onboarding/training could require more upfront days in-office.] Once training is complete, you will have the opportunity to tailor your schedule to best fit your lifestyle and preferences in general alignment with the company's business hours (Monday through Friday, between the hours of 7am and 5pm PST).
