Job Summary: Provide strategic leadership and managerial oversight for the day-to-day operations of the thrift shop, including effective supervision and coordination of volunteers. Develop and implement innovative plans to maintain and enhance the shop’s competitive edge and ensure ongoing success. Oversee thrift store associate and the volunteer program to guarantee optimal staffing levels and ensure seamless, efficient operations. Plan and execute volunteer training days, and volunteer appreciation events.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide Managerial Leadership
- Maintain a clean, safe, and appealing environment.
- Deliver outstanding customer service, addressing customer needs whenever possible.
- Adhere to all safety guidelines to ensure a secure work environment.
- Operate the cash register as needed and handle daily cash transactions.
- Manage the purchasing of supplies for the thrift shop.
- Coordinate repairs and maintenance for the thrift shop.
- Supervise volunteers to ensure smooth operations.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of thrift shop policies and procedures.
- Prepare monthly reports that detail key information, including donations, volunteer activities, and time.
Ensure Store Operation Coverage
- Manage thrift store associate and volunteer coordination to ensure store hours are fully covered.
- Collaborate effectively with volunteers.
- Recruit, interview, train, and, when necessary, manage the release of volunteers.
- Create and accommodate volunteer schedules.
- Track volunteer time and attendance.
- Organize volunteer appreciation events for the thrift shop.
Oversee Thrift Shop Inventory
- Maintain an adequate stock of merchandise in the thrift shop.
- Monitor inventory quality and ensure merchandise meets established standards.
- Conduct research to determine effective pricing strategies.
Ensure and Oversee Donations
- Supervise the donation processes for the thrift shop.
- Receive and assess incoming donations.
- Encourage further contributions and highlight donation opportunities.
Stay Ahead of the Competition
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to create and manage advertising, marketing, and annual sales plans. Design and execute quarterly advertising campaigns.
- Represent the organization in public speaking events as needed to enhance its public image and drive donations.
Required Qualifications:
- Retail experience.
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
- Strong verbal/written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a team.
- Ability to work with people of various ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills.
- Ability to use office equipment and software, including but not limited to laptop, printer, and cash register.
- Valid Missouri Driver’s License
- A 90-day probationary period is required for all employees.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Recent experience in a retail thrift shop setting.
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Experience with solicitation of donations.
- Experiencing with marketing and advertising
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $33,000.00 - $34,000.00 per year
