Thrift Store Key Holder

Revenue from our thrift stores allow us to provide vital community programs such as Meals on Wheels, The Senior Dining Center, Family Caregiver Support, Liquid Nutrition Supplements, and other services which support older adults in Henderson County. Thrift Store staff members can go home at the end of the day and know that they have had a positive impact on our community.

This full-time retail position is a five-day work week up to 40 hours/week, with regular shifts from Tuesday through Friday and a shortened shift on Saturday. No nights, Sundays, or Mondays required.

We are seeking a thrift store associate who is hard-working, reliable, resourceful and enjoy performing a variety of needed tasks such as managing volunteer scheduling, creating store displays, promotional sales, cashiering and receiving/processing donations.

The Thrift Store Keyholder is the only full-time staff member at the store beside the Store Manager. The Keyholder will be trained in each aspect of the store by the Store Manager, and the Keyholder is able to run the store in the Manager's absence.

The perfect candidate is one who is passionate about senior services, able to get along with individuals with various personalities and beliefs, and who hopes to grow within the organization.

Position Summary:

Full-time, Tuesday through Saturday, 31-40 hours per week, assisting the store manager with the various functions of day-to-day store operations. Thrift store sales associate with at least 1 year experience who are reliable, resourceful and enjoy performing a variety of tasks including logistics, pricing, volunteer management, cashiering and receiving/processing donations.

Primary Duties:

• Assist with receiving, sorting, cleaning, pricing, and displaying donated items according to store policy and instructions from the store manager.
• Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions while performing the cash register duties.
• Communicate customer and volunteer requests and/or concerns to the store manager.
• Load furniture and other larger purchases into customers’ vehicles.
• Interact with volunteers and guests in a positive and friendly manner.
• Assist with the general cleaning of the store.
• Willing to be cross trained to perform other related store functions based on needs of the business and the Store Manager’s judgment.

Position Requirements:

• Able to communicate in a friendly and positive manner with staff, guests, donors, and store volunteers.
• Able to lift up to 25lbs repeatedly throughout the day.
• Have the physical stamina to stand and move for several hours and the ability to lift up to 50lbs with assistance.
• Ability to operate a cash register in a fast paced environment.
• Opening and closing the thrift store Tuesday through Saturday.
• Making regular bank deposits.
• Communicating with the store manager on any needs that may arise.
• Have excellent time management skills.
• Willing to learn each piece of store operations, and able to run the store in the manager's absence.
• Other tasks as determined and assigned by the Store Manager and/or the Director of Operations.
