POSITION: WASTEWATER TREATMENT/FACILITY OPERATOR, Beef Processing Facility
SHIFT: Second, but must be flexible on hours, changes if need for plant operation
DEPARTMENT: Wastewater Treatment
POSITION TYPE: Full-time; Hourly PAY RANGE: $50-60K per year
OBJECTIVE: The Wastewater Treatment/Facility Operator at our beef processing plant operates and maintains wastewater treatment, sludge processing and handling equipment. The incumbent’s role is to make residual water safe for releasing into the environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operator will always be alert to conditions and responsible for ensuring proper operation of the wastewater facility.
- Collects and test water and sewage samples, using test equipment and color analysis standards.
- Records operational data, personnel attendance, or meter and gauge readings on specified forms.
- Operate and adjust controls on equipment to purify and clarify water, process, or dispose of sewage and generate power.
- Enhanced cleaning and sanitation are regularly performed.
- Maintains food and work safety regulations as required by law and company policy.
- Provides technical expertise to management to prevent or resolve wastewater issues.
- Various other responsibilities as needed and determined by the Board and Management Team.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Must have certification for a Class C Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator.
- Ability to help develop policies and procedures that best fit our facility and
- Communicate in both oral and written correspondence.
- Ability to work in a confined area.
- Ability to walk up and down stairs.
- Capable of lifting or carrying 50 lb. chemical bags.
- Ability to wear a respirator if needed.
- Good mathematical skills.
- Accuracy and attention to detail is a must.
- Ability to be a leader and instruct others regarding the operation of the wastewater facility.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment is a combination of corporate and manufacturing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold, hot, and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
