Background
With tradition of excellence and service in the Wabash Valley since 1898, the Country Club of Terre Haute has been the place for fine dining, recreation and social activities for more than a century. Our amenities include, but are not limited to: an 18 hole, par 71 golf course with a PGA certified staff, swimming pool, tennis courts, a variety of dining options, and an array of special events.
We are looking for an applicant who is a team player that can manage a large group of people and communicate effectively with other managers.
Minimum Requirements:
Experience in food service and banquet set-up is necessary
Two years experience as a server, floor, or bartending supervisor in a la carte/private dining service or equivalent.
A high-energy, outgoing personality, with strong professional interpersonal communication skills.
Proven track record of team leadership and motivation skills.
Attention to set up and service details are a must.
Diplomatic team player able to foster relationships with members, employees, partners, and guests.
Possesses a passion for exceeding member expectations and a commitment to excellence that results in providing the highest quality Member and guest experience
High school diploma or equivalent (Associates degree or bachelors in hospitality or related field or equivalent is preferred)
Must be able to obtain a liquor license
Must have a valid driver’s license
Event Supervisor Job Duties Include:
- Attending staff meeting to review events
- Setup, execution, and tear-down of events
- Close two nights per week at minimum
- Serve tables to fill in slow periods
- Bartending when necessary
- Organize and maintain organization in the clubhouse
- Clean and maintain cleanliness in the clubhouse
- Other duties as determined by the assistant manager
Priorities and Expectations include:
This position is a dual position. When we do not have events, the Event Supervisor works a server in order to maintain full-time hours
The main priority will be the setup, perfect execution, and tear-down of events.
There will be times when the event supervisor will be solely responsible for setting up events.
Work directly with the party planner during events.
Solve problems that come up. The assistant manager, dining manager, the general manager, the event planner, and the kitchen manager will all be available as resources.
Supervise staff during events. You will ensure your staff executes events to the standard of the Country Club of Terre Haute.
The event supervisor will supervise the tear-down of events and will ensure that the event staff finishes each event properly, leaving the room/rooms used for the event clean. If necessary, you and your staff will set the room/rooms for the next event.
The event supervisor will perform multiple other duties, as listed above.
Hours will vary throughout the year. There will be some pre-approved times off, but a minimum of full time hours is expected April through September, and December. Vacations are to be planned during our slow season, ideally doing so in January.
Leadership Expectations
This is a position of management and leadership. The event supervisor will be expected to lead the event staff. The Country Club of Terre Haute promotes a “Lead from the Front” atmosphere. The Event Supervisor will be expected to lead and manage by actively taking part in the event and will set a shining example of how to conduct yourself to your staff. There will be some late evenings that will require motivation of the staff. Management at the Country Club of Terre Haute may at times require doing dishes, polishing silverware, and whatever else it may take to make the member and guest experience great.
When you encounter a situation you are unsure of, i.e. discipline of a staff member who is uncooperative, you will be expected to use the management above you, specifically the Assistant Manager.
