Position Title : Staff Accountant
Position Reports to : Controller
Employee Categories : Full Time Year-Round; Benefit Eligible
FLSA Category : Non-Exempt; Hourly Position
The Staff Accountant is responsible for a variety of accounting functions. Responsibilities may include but are not limited to : accounts payable, event billing, member billing, payroll, cash receipts and general ledger maintenance.
Primary Responsibilities (may include but not limited to) :
Accounts Payable
Responsible for all invoice vouching, general ledger coding of invoices and vendor discounts
Responsible for all vendor statement reconciliations
Processing the account payable checks
Coordinating with different departments on invoice questions, and issues
Payroll
Process weekly payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of each cycle.
Collaborate with Human Resources to ensure the pay data batch and pay register reflect all weekly changes such as new hires, rate increases, terminations, benefit changes, etc.
Generate weekly payroll reports for the Director of HR, CFO, and Controller.
Ensure confidentiality of payroll information and employee pay records.
Member & Event Billing
Responsible for all usage related billing. Work closely with other departments to coordinate billing and resolve discrepancies.
Serve as the main point of contact for billing related inquiries. Research and communicate all resolutions directly with members, process any necessary adjustments or credits.
Participate in the month-end GL closing process. Prepare and send detailed member billing statements monthly.
Maintain a system of UBI reporting for private functions.
Required Skills :
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ideal candidate should be a self-starter, willing to take the initiative on tasks or issues.
Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
Specialized Knowledge & Education :
Knowledge and experience using Jonas Encore software a plus.
Accounting or payroll experience a plus.
Knowledge and experience using ADP Workforce Now system a plus.
Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field a plus.

Lift up to 30 pounds. Could be asked to lift boxes of paper or IT equipment.
Stand, walk, bend and lift for up to 12 hours a day.
Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and / or fingers.
The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as : preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and / or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and / or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes.
