What are the responsibilities and job description for the VETERAN SERVICE OFFICER position at The County of Adams?
The County of Adams is seeking a dedicated Veterans Service Officer to join our team and provide vital assistance to those who have served our country. As a VSO, you will play a critical role in connecting veterans and their families with the benefits they are entitled to, and serving as their case manager, liaison, and confidant.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :
- Serves as the local contact between the veteran and their dependents and United States Department of Veterans Affairs (USDVA). Conducts in depth interviews with individuals in order to assess their eligibility for various benefits.
- Verifies military service records and documents for legitimacy, accuracy, and eligibility.
- Advises veterans and their dependents of federal, state, and local benefits available to them. Some examples are :
Service-connected disability benefits- this includes conducting in depth confidential health related interviews with veterans attempting to ensure all applicable DBQ's (Disability Benefit Questionnaires) are provided for medical evaluation.

Status : Full Time / 37.5 hours per week
Compensation : $21.39 per hour
