Pet Care Specialist

The Critter Sitter LLC is a small business in Hendersonville, NC. We are professional, fun, and compassionate and our goal is to provide dependable, quality and caring pet care to the residents within our county. We offer a suite of various services to our clients.

This is a perfect position for someone with a flexible daytime schedule.

Our work environment includes:

• Travel to pet parent homes on a pre-determined schedule, providing specific care services tailored to individual pets. Reliable vehicle is a must
• Hours will vary based upon number of clients assigned any given day/ week
• Candidate can expect to be walking/ driving in all sorts of weather extremes (rain/ heat/ etc...)
• Visits will vary from half hour to one-hour walks/ check ins as well as offering complete overnight stays
• Some visits will include care for farm livestock (horses, chickens, etc..) and exotic pets (fish, birds, reptiles, amphibians, pocket pets, etc...) Most visits are cats and dogs, but candidate should expect occasional other pets, livestock and exotics.

**Job Overview:**

We are seeking a passionate Pet Sitter and Dog Walker to join our team. If you love animals and enjoy spending time outdoors, this role is perfect for you. Dependability is key, reliable vehicle and willingness to travel within Henderson County, and ability to communicate effectively and dependably.

**Duties:**

- Walk dogs of various breeds and sizes in all weather conditions

- Ensure the safety and well-being of the pets under your care

- Follow specific instructions regarding each dog's walking route, pace, and behavior

-Follow specific instructions regarding each pet's care instructions

- Provide basic training and reinforce good behavior during walks

- Maintain cleanliness during and after walks and visits

- Report any health, safety or behavioral concerns to the pet owner

- Report regular updates to pet owner for each visit or walk conducted via phone

**Skills:**

- Experience in dog and cat handling and animal care

- Basic knowledge of pet body language and ques.

- Basic knowledge of pet first aid and breed characteristics

- Background as a veterinary technician or assistant is beneficial

- Strong customer service skills to interact with pet owners

- Ability to handle animals with care and restraint

-Ability to provide medications via oral pill, topical or injections is beneficial
