WNC Pet Care is a pet sitting and dog walking company based in Asheville, NC that has been providing high-quality services since 2017. We cater to clients in Asheville, Arden, Fletcher and Hendersonville, offering a range of services including 30-60min dog walks, 2 hour hikes, drop-in visits, nail trims, and specialized care. Although we offer advanced animal care services, such as insulin injection and subcutaneous fluids administration, these skills are not required for employment. Our staff members are certified in Pet First Aid & CPR and share our deep passion for animals. To ensure a seamless experience for our clients, we provide real-time visit reports using a convenient phone app, which enables them to stay in contact with their assigned pet sitters on the go. At this time, WNC Pet Care is looking to cover weekends the most urgently, therefore your availability must include either Saturdays and Sundays.

Job Responsibilities:
- Walk dogs on a leash (maximum of 2 dogs at a time) in the pet owner's neighborhood for the duration of the scheduled time in increments of 30, 45, or 60 minutes. The dog walker will ensure that the pets are walked safely.
- Visit pets at their owners' homes. Drop-in home visits may require cleaning of the yard or litter box, feeding, accident clean-up, playtime with pets, etc. Tasks may also include watering plants, bringing in the mail, or taking out garbage/recycling.
- Ensure that all pets are present and healthy.
- Assess and report suspected illnesses or injuries in common pet species (cats, dogs, reptiles, rodents, etc.).
- Communicate with owners through an app that provides details about each visit.
Requirements:
- Have a flexible schedule with open availability, including evenings, and weekends, for a minimum of 5-10 hours per week. Scheduling changes weekly and is posted on Fridays. Schedule is made according to our staff's weekly time off that they can update freely directly from their app.
- Have a smartphone with an unlimited plan. Team members will use an app to start a timer that runs for each visit and includes a GPS tracker for walks.
- Be comfortable working with animals of all kinds. WNC Pet Care provides services to everything from household pets to farm animals. Candidate need to be able to work with all sizes, breeds, and temperaments of dogs. Expect to get dirty.
- Demonstrate friendly and professional customer service skills. Candidate will send detailed visit reports after each visit, along with pictures and a short message to the owner.
- Demonstrate a professional appearance while conducting Meet & Greets with new clients.
- Be punctual and reliable. Our staff members work scheduled shifts as assigned by management. Visits cannot be missed or cut short.
- Display patience and positivity. Shifts can be long, weather can be unappealing, and some animals can be difficult to work with, but staff are always expected to treat each pet with love and respect.
- Have reliable transportation and be comfortable spending a lot of time on the road, using a phone GPS app such as Google Maps. Be prepared to drive anywhere within a 10-mile radius of Asheville. Commute time to the next client is an average of 15 minutes but can be up to 30 minutes long on occasion. The service area includes Weaverville, Woodfin, Fairview, Kenilworth, South Asheville, Arden, The Ramble Community, Biltmore Square, Biltmore Forest, Candler, Biltmore Lake, and Leicester.

Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience working in animal care preferred (vet tech, dog walker, pet trainer, pet groomer)
- Minimum of 1 year of customer service experience
- Ability to understand animal body language
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- No physical constraints (this job requires a lot of walking, running, pulling, etc.)Salary depends on experience. Start pay averages $20/h. Staff is paid per completed service which starts at $14/30min, $17/45min and $20/60min tips and a portion of miscellaneous fees such as holiday, service add-ons and additional pet fees.

Compensation is determined based on experience and the quantity of services successfully carried out. On average the starting pay is approximately $20/hour. Staff are paid per completed service, which starts at $14/30 minutes visit, $17/45 minutes visit and $20/60 minutes visit. We also offer 2 hrs hikes, overnight house sitting, and more.
