Role Overview
The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of The Cross Church’s employment processes and practices, including recruitment, hiring, employee relations, compensation, benefits, performance management, training and development, and compliance within The Cross Church high-expectation culture and mission to “Spread God’s Fame by making disciples of All People”. The Human Resources Manager reports to the Executive Minister.

Office Hours:
Monday – Thursday 8AM to 5PM approximately 34-36 hours in person/church office Friday approximately 4-6 hours virtual/home office
Responsibilities and Expectations
- Collaborate with senior leadership to understand organizational goals to ensure HR is aligned with The Cross Church vision and mission.
- Manage staffing processes, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring, onboarding, and departing employees.
- Manage of payroll, including processing, tax filing, and inquiries with accuracy and timeliness.
- Administer benefit programs including health insurance and retirement plans. Give leadership to the orientation process and training of new hires.
- Keep job descriptions up-to-date and compliant.
- Facilitate the performance management process to help employees understand their job responsibilities and give performance feedback.
- Design and implement HR policies, processes, and initiatives including but not limited to productivity, recognition, retention, occupational health and safety.
- Investigate and bring resolution to employee issues and conflicts.
- Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently.
- Maintain company organization charts and employee directory. Maintain continuing education to remain knowledgeable of trends, best practices, regulatory environment, and new technologies.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices.
- Prepare for and support external examinations.
- Steward church resources with care, such as furniture, fixtures, equipment, supplies, and other resources.
- Attend staff meetings and team meetings each week.
- Foster a cooperative, healthy and motivating relationship with staff, volunteers, and church families.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Experience and Critical Skills

- Committed to biblical Christian principles and teachings both professionally and personally.
- Established pattern of Bible study and prayer.
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources or a related field.
- Coursework in information technology and conflict management preferred.
- Professional associations/certifications such as The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and/or Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI) is a plus.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite and competency to learn new web-based technology platforms quickly.
- Knowledge of a broad range of human resources strategies and practices, including compensation, benefit administration, performance management, safety, hiring, employee relations, and compliance.
- Ability to foster The Cross Church culture of honesty, hunger, hustle, hospitality, and humility.
- Experience with analyzing data with exceptional attention to detail.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to practice a high level of confidentiality.
- Able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
- The ability to handle moderate stress levels.
- Sufficient good health to discharge duties properly.
- Ability to walk, stand, and sit, sometimes for prolonged periods of time required.
- Passing criminal, financial, and sexual misconduct background checks required.
