This is an overnight position. The most important expectation of a delivery job person is delivering the correct product to the customer within a designated time frame. Timeliness is especially important for newspaper delivery jobs. Newspapers report time-sensitive information that may interest the public, which typically reads the newspaper in the morning. A Newspaper Carrier delivers newspapers to customers on a designated route. Duties in a newspaper delivery job may include retrieving the day’s newspapers from the publisher, delivering the daily paper to customers, and collecting money when it is due. The paper route may change or be longer on the weekend. It is largely performed by driving your route in a vehicle and delivering papers to houses and businesses.
Newspaper carriers typically work independently on their route, though they may occasionally have a supervisor check in on them to ensure that they’re doing their job correctly.
Newspaper Carrier Job Duties
Newspaper carriers have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include:
· Delivering newspapers to houses or businesses in the delivery area,
· Receiving and sorting new issues of the newspaper from a distribution center or printing facility
· Distributing free or paid newspapers to homes or businesses in a specific geographic area
· Delivering newspapers by hand to subscribers who are unable to pick up their papers themselves due to disability or illness
The Daily Times in Blount County, TN currently has several routes available for immediate start. The Daily Times distributes newspapers six days a week, Sunday through Friday, and the routes are usually delivered in the early morning hours, between 2 and 7 a.m.
