Salary Range: $78,000 - $170,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.

The Dalton School History and Social Science Department seeks a full-time, high school history teacher beginning in the 2025-2026 academic year. The candidate who fills this position will join an exceptionally collegial department with a strong commitment to collaboration, pedagogical innovation, and intellectual risk-taking. Candidates must be able teach an integrated 9th-11th grade Global History Curriculum that includes both World and U.S. History. Additional expertise in areas such as Latin American History, Black and African History, Asian History, and/or Economics is preferred. Candidates must have a passion for working with and teaching adolescents, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong organizational skills and attention to detail, an ability to meet deadlines, a capacity to multitask and prioritize workload, and superior interpersonal skills.
Responsibilities:
- Teach multiple sections of high school history
- Participate collaboratively developing curriculum and lesson plans
- Provide regular support and enrichment for students through the Lab system
- Engage actively in departmental and school-wide diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism efforts
- Potentially serve as a student advisor (House Advisor)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required; graduate degree strongly preferred
- Relevant teaching experience required; high school teaching experience preferred
- Demonstrated commitment to equitable and inclusive practices, with respect to pedagogy, curriculum, literary and scholarly interests, and/or community engagement
- Student advising experience preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to work well with a team
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Facility with technology and readiness to learn new educational technologies and learning management software
