Salary Range: $78,000 - $170,000. The position on the scale will be based on years of teaching experience and education.

Dalton seeks an accomplished and visionary full-time educator to join the Middle and High School Theater program. The Theater teacher will work with fellow theater teachers and colleagues within a cross-divisional department to fulfill our mission of valuing and nurturing imagination and self-expression in the arts. We believe that active participation in and exposure to the performing arts expands our students’ horizons, empowers the development of their voice, and enriches lives. The ideal candidate will have extensive background in theater, demonstrate engagement with current theater pedagogical practices, and exhibit a passion for working in an academic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and teach curriculum for a range of Middle and High School Theater classes
- Direct at least one mainstage production in Middle School or High School annually. Productions range from large scale musicals to small cast plays
- Collaborate with technical theater teachers and external creative artists to realize the vision of a production
- Engage with other performing arts colleagues across the lower, middle and high school divisions for interdisciplinary programs.
Qualifications:
- Experience teaching Middle and High School theater
- An advanced degree in theater and/or education preferred
- Significant experience in theater
- Approaches work with children with joy, optimism, energy, kindness and a sense of humor
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to work across departments and work collaboratively with faculty, staff and administration
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
